Writing a Young Adult Novel

Writing a young adult novel is the same as writing any novel. The only difference is the age group 15-18 year-olds. Young Adult novels features issues that young adults experience in this age bracket. Some issues are fear of rejection by a loved one, family issues, poverty, not doing well in school, or being harassed for being smart, not fitting in-socially, drug issues, sex, and much more. These issues will be your characters conflict(s) throughout the entire novel. How does your character deal with the issues that come forth from this problem? How long has the conflict been going on? Are there times when the conflict could easily been fixed? How does your character end up struggling and then come fixing the problem? Is there a moral lesson? Not all young adult novels are sad. There are funny  and romantically happy ones as well.
