Synopsis:
It seems a dream job for Jack, a small builder in Forest Gate, when he gets the job to repair the summerhouse of a millionaire couple in Chigwell. The two months work will pay his debts, and give him space to sort out his personal demons. Except, the couple are at war, both having affairs, their marriage beyond salvage. The husband fires Jack, she takes him back on – and suddenly he is too involved with their scheming. Complicated further when he falls for her secretary. My Review:
Jack of All Trades by DH Smith is an intriguing tale full of drama and excitement. This is the first novel, that I have read by DH Smith. Readers will definitely find enough action to keep them glued to the pages. There are times, when readers will think something is about to happen and then doesn’t due to another character popping on scene. Then there’s a romance that is dead and the sole cause of trouble. Next, there’s one man doing his best, with his failed marriage and staying away from one sin. Mystery, suspense, and murder can all be found in this brilliantly well-written novel. For fans of Clue and of Agatha Christie’s novels, this is a must read.
DH Smith has masterfully woven many lives together in this stunning novel. Jack of All Trades fits perfectly with the overall story. A man, who starts his own business, is soon doing work that might be the end of him. Jack of All Trades…is exactly that. Jack finds himself doing major work for a couple. Stuff that goes out of his comfort zone and yet he agrees. Money is definitely worth what they ask for until it goes too far. Exactly how far his employers will go and in what direction will be for readers to discover. Not only that but readers will see the inner workings of a nasty affair, a man being beaten almost to a pulp, and an innocent man being framed. Readers will feel like they are there experiencing the scenes first hand. DH Smith has masterfully created a way to lure readers. Readers will easily connect so deeply with the characters. The conflicts are plentiful and the suspense hangs thickly in the air. Overall, I highly recommend reading, Jack of All Trades to readers everywhere.
