The Weekenders by Mary Kay Andrews is a novel that dives deep into a family’s life and secrets. In the beginning, readers can feel the main female character’s stress and frustration and then her daughter’s rebellious stage makes for quite an interesting read. There’s a husband, who is found dead and his death being investigated by police. Then, there’s the house being foreclosed and a past love that comes tumbling into the picture. What should have turned out to be a fun weekend turned into more than the wife and daughter ever wanted…
Mary Kay Andrews has beautifully woven a story that drags readers in deep and holds them there. The Weekenders has everything readers could ask for in a novel. Family, intrigue, mystery, suspense, as well as romance, can all be found in this exciting new title. The plot is fast-paced and leaves readers guessing as to what, who, and why one man died as well as where that leaves the family he left behind…I enjoyed reading this story and following the characters as the scenes flew by and the action swept over me. Overall, I would highly recommend this novel to readers worldwide. Mary Kay Andrews has a talent that is brilliant and suspenseful.
