Review

Wishes at First Light by Joanne Rock is full of dark moments as well as sweet ones. Immediately, I was drawn into the characters’ lives. Each one has a dark past that sends shivers down my spine. Families that didn’t love them back and the past that’s holding them from moving forward…

Joanne Rock showed me a young woman thinking she was meeting her life crush only to meet a monster who would take advantage. Luckily, she had a friend who came to her rescue. Her brother and his friend went with her leaving behind their only home. Now years later, she returns back home. She is determined to face her past. But to do so, she,it’s also face her crush. I loved how Joanne Rock brought two characters who secretly seem to have fallen for one another only to be separated. Each one can’t love freely u til the past is over…but will it ever be?

Clay has parents who were not good. He ended up in foster care and his siblings weren’t that lucky. One of them died and Clay feels responsible. He’s working hard to get his siblings together as a family should be. Then, his father is super ill and the love of his life is back in town….life is complicated and messy all over again.

Wishes at First Light by Joanne Rock is thrilling to read. The plot moves by quickly. Before I knew, I was finished. Compelling, addictive, and heartfelt. Overall, I highly recommend this novel to readers everywhere.
