Review: My Razzle Dazzle: A Coming-Out Story by Tim Patten

Tim Patten has experienced a life journey like no other and survived to tell the tale. With equal parts pathos, humor, and heart, My Razzle-Dazzle recounts this singular yet universal story of how a quintessential American outsider came of age along with an entire generation.
You will live his story as if it were your own, crisscrossing the country and whirling around the Roller Derby banked track. My Razzle-Dazzle is a thrilling ride of unexpected beauty and mayhem.

My Razzle Dazzle: A Coming-Out Story, by Tim Patten, was an unexpected delight to read. It encompasses the history of an individual growing up hating who he was, but still coming out proud and happy with who he became. This is a fantastic example of how no one goes through life unscathed. Not one person. Although the challenges we face may be different, each and every one of us have our own demons to fight and crosses to bear. Some people let it beat them and turn to substances to help them deal with their struggles, but Patten’s story is one that proves how you don’t need to rely on anything besides yourself and friends to get you through. A stable support system is all you need. In time you’ll learn to love who you are and enjoy life.

I love how Patten shows the ups and downs of life in such a real and uncensored way. So many people are afraid to let go of their past and talk about it. He gives the reader the strength and courage to heal from their own wounds as you read about his life. It helps you open up and be vulnerable over your own issues. I think anyone and everyone can find the power to be and love themselves with this book. Please give it a shot. It’s worth it.

In the reading world, Samantha has always found herself drawn into the world of Young Adult Fiction. The world they portrayed were always a great way to spend free time. After publishing her Auto-Biography, The Road to Becoming a Survivor, she decided to go back to her favorite pastime but instead, from the other end. Her time currently not spent writing is spent at work, or spending time with her fiance and his children in Jackson, Michigan. She hopes one day to become as big of a writer as some of the other Young Adult fiction Authors and every day works towards creating the Magical Worlds that will pull in the reader and keep them trapped within the book until the very last punctuation mark.
