Review: The Coldest Fear

The Coldest Fear (Shades of Death #3)

A killer with nothing left to lose…

Afraid or not, Detective Bobbie Gentry has a monster to confront. The pain of losing her family and nearly her life to a criminal’s vile hunger is still fresh, but now the landscape is different. Now she’s not alone. Now she has Nick Shade to trust. Nick treats the terror of his past with vengeance. He’s dedicated his life to hunting serial killers, and he’d give up his last breath to save Bobbie. When a string of killings bloodies Savannah’s elite society and causes cold cases to resurface, Bobbie is captured in a city more haunted than Nick’s inescapable nightmares. And as the murderer strikes close, Nick and Bobbie will need to become even closer if they’re going to survive.

Rating: 5-stars

The Coldest Fear by Debra Webb is the third installment to this dark suspense series. This was the first book in the series that I loved! Inside, it contained all of the following: suspense, mystery, and action. All of these were in plenty throughout the pages. What was different in this book was the focus of the book. It really hit dead center on the complicated relationship of the detective, Bobbie, and Nick. Nick believes he has inherited the same DNA as his serial killer father. So, he back away from deepening the romance between him and Bobbie. Only he always comes to save her in the darkest and coldest of situations.

Bobbie is constantly in a deadly battle against the darkest and most fearsome serial killers. She seems to be a magnet for trouble. Despite his weird beliefs on his DNA, Nick risks everything to save the woman he loves. This particular read, has so many twist and turns that I was head-over-heels in love. The dramatic epic cloud that hung over Nick with his past and his present with Bobbie was enormous. It was the main thing that attracted and kept me on the edge. I had to know what happened next. I kept wondering if I would be led to another cliffhanger on those issues or if they would be resolved. No, I am not going to ruin it and tell readers which way it went. Read it, and enjoy the chase as much as I did. Debra Webb, this was the best book yet in the series. I am now, onto the fourth book in this series. Yes, I am hooked.
