Synopsis:
An Officer and a Scotsman
Captain Andrew St. James always knew he came from a noble family, but his branch grew far from the wealth and status. Nothing shocks him more than learning that he now stands as heir presumptive to his distant cousin the Duke of Carlyle. There is much for Drew to learn and adjust to—but first he goes home to Edinburgh, to tell his mother and three sisters of their startling good fortune.
A Lady and a Temptress
Ilsa Ramsay yearns for some adventure and fun, not another husband. When she discovers the handsome soldier who sweeps her off her feet for a rollicking dance is her friend’s brother, soon to be an English duke, she tells herself he’s not for her, no matter how tempting he is. But one impulsive kiss, then another, and another… says otherwise.
An Irresistible Attraction
Drew means to marry a respectable, dignified Englishwoman—a very proper future duchess. The spirited Ilsa is none of that. Still, when she’s caught in a dangerous scandal, he leaps to her aid without hesitation. And neither family duty nor future obligation can make them ignore what’s in both their hearts.

Review:
A Scot to the Heart by Caroline Linden is a fascinating historical regency romance. It is full of rogues. Some are in competition for the line of becoming the next Duke of Carlyle. Drew means to make sure his other cousin does not win. Only he has a lot to learn, sisters to take care of, and an irresistible woman who takes every chance to seduce him. Drew has his hands full. This Scottish officer will not stop fighting nor quit until all is well. He is a strong hero with a big heart. The fact that he thinks of his sisters and their future while trying to find a future for himself is noble. He is the type of man that puts family and ladies first. Rare find in society of London. The more Drew takes over in learning the ropes to become the next eligible heir the more he and Ilsa fall for each other. However, Ilsa is a wild lady that defies the normal conventions. She is not as tamed as London society wants her to be. Yet, she is more woman and stronger for than those types. She has a scandal attached to her. Ilsa is worried about dragging down the man she loves because her family is prime for scandals. Yet the tough warrior will not let her go nor give up what they have despite the scandals. It was easy to love these characters. I also enjoyed the smaller characters. Ilsa’s brother made for a good villain. I loved how her put one over him in the end. That was priceless! Overall, this novel has everything a reader could ask for plus, more. Action-packed, adventures, risks, scandals, and love are beautifully woven in this tale. I cannot wait to read more adventures by this superb writer, Caroline Linden, in the future.
