Review: Summer on Honeysuckle Ridge

Summer on Honeysuckle Ridge (Highland Falls #1)

Synopsis:

Sparks fly between an L.A. career woman and a former Army Ranger in this delightful enemies-to-lovers romance from the USA Today bestselling queen of small-town love stories.

Welcome to Highland Falls, a small town where love is always in the air.

In just a few months Abby Everhart has gone from being a top LA media influencer to an unemployed divorcée living out of her car. So inheriting her great-aunt’s homestead comes at the perfect time. Abby heads to Highland Falls, North Carolina, to spruce up Honeysuckle Farm before putting it on the market for some much-needed cash. But instead of finding a charming getaway, she discovers a serious fixer-upper, complete with a leaky roof, overgrown yard, and a reclusive — albeit sexy — man living on the property.

Ex-Delta Force soldier Hunter MacKenzie has faced war and loss, but nothing has quite prepared him for an outgoing redhead who’s determined to turn his life upside down. Hunter doesn’t want to get involved with anyone, especially a city girl who plans to sell the only place he’s ever felt at home. But the sparks between them are undeniable. Spending time with Abby is easy. Convincing her to stay for good is another matter entirely.

Review:

Summer on Honeysuckle Ridge by Debbie Mason is one of the best summer romance books I have read. It has heart, soul, and body. These characters are as varied as the crayons in a Crayola can box. Each character added to the story. Making a full rounded tale that grabs my attention and does not let go. I never wanted the book to end. In fact, I hope there are more and this is just a beginning to a series. It is indeed the first to a new series. I have always been a huge fan of Samantha Chase and Brenda Novak’s books. This book is similar to both of my top favorite contemporary romance writers. Debbie Mason has topped them all with this book. Not that I won’t read the other writers’ books anymore but that I will be adding books by Debbie to my bookshelf from now on…

In this superb romance, I met a heroine who reminds me of sunshine and smiles. Abby is all sunshine and she is the kindest soul. Her positive nature affects everyone around her including the toughest alpha in town. Ex-military and total mountain man alpha, Hunter is not only the best looking man but a softie. His soft side is hidden behind his scowls and scary demeanor. He is always there to protect the accident prone and sensitive city girl, Abby. Abby manages to break down all of his barriers in ways he never thought a woman could. Abby is not looking for a man like Hunter but even she is not blind to the attraction between them. I love how they both try to resist and stay away. However, love has a way and a power of bringing two together when they least expect it. All the minor characters were amazing! They were all likable. Without them, the heroine and hero could not have gotten as far as they did. The dogs from each of the protagonist were hilarious and sweet. I thought it was cute how Abby kept tying in how both their dogs were just like Abby and Hunter. To find out what I mean, pick up this incredible book!
