Review: Every Dog has His Day

Synopsis:

A stray kitten and a rambunctious poodle bring together a small-town bachelor and a single mother in the latest romance set in Bluff Point, Maine.

Divorced mother Jessie Connelly wants nothing to do with men like Zach. He’s sexy and charismatic and bad news, just like her ex. But her girls adore him, and he’s doing a good job filling in for their deadbeat dad. Then a snowstorm brings out the best in both neighbors, who, it turns out, have more in common than their mutual attraction…

So when Jessie’s past threatens her and her girls, Zach is determined to do whatever it takes to protect them—and live happily ever after with this family he has made his own.

Review:

Every Dog has His Day by Jenn McKinlay is super sweet, super funny, and super romantic. My heart melted with every page. Jenn McKinlay knew how to make me swoon, aww, and fall in love. Her characters are charming. The protagonists have real life issues that they’re currently facing. One is a single divorced mother of two young girls. The other is a man who never really had a family. Little did they know that fate had plans for them both. Next door neighbors who end up getting to know each other through the fault of two sweet girls and a little kitten. The bachelor has a dog that he’s home sitting and has become attached to…after meeting his next door neighbors and getting to them, Zachary can’t resist their charming nature. Jessie and her girls fall for Zach’s charming self and his good looks. But there’s more to Zachary than Jessie original thought. He’s a man with a good heart and a loving nature. Their chemistry explodes in this book. Humor was throughout the pages. I loved the snowflake making scene…Zach’s snowflake looked like a bird to the little girls but both he and the girls’ mother knew exactly what it was…I cannot mention it. But it’s worth reading to find out! Overall, I highly recommend this contemporary holiday novel to readers worldwide.

Review: Slammed

Except, of course, when it comes to the super hot new goalie. Because when a guy’s kiss curls your toes and sets your heart on fire, how the hell do you just walk away? And he just had the most mind-blowing night with the woman of his dreams. But now that he’s an official Thunder player, Dixie is determined to keep her distance. None of the fame and fortune means anything to him without her to share it. If he truly wants Dixie in his life, it’s time to throw down his gloves and put everything on the line.

The San Francisco Thunder series: Score

Rating: 5-stars

Review:

Slammed by Victoria Denault is sexy as hell. It’s funny, sweet, and charming, too. A publicist and a hockey player team up as a steamy duo. Their lust and attraction create a heady combination for this tale. But rules are required and one of them could lose everything…

Victoria Denault’s writing is superb. I was cheering all the way for both protagonists. I laughed a lot through these pages. The tension between the hot hockey goalie and the daring publicist, was intriguing. I couldn’t stop reading…they kept the story alive. It felt three dimensional. Their family lives are different and each one is suffering from their own issue. Eli’s parents are strict and unemotional. They never supported him or his brother. Then there’s Dixie and her big bold family. They’re loud and annoying at times but overall, a super friendly group. Dixie’s father’s health seems to be taking a nose dive…her career isn’t what she thought it would be, and her role model isn’t the person that she thought either. Then, there’s the stupid rule of no relationships with the hockey team…yet, she and Eli are breaking it anyway. Eli got cut upon the ice awhile ago and it haunts him. He hasn’t been the same college hockey guy since the accident. Dixie pushes his butt into accepting help from a sports psychologist. As their heat builds so does their secret relationship…there will come a time they have to let it out or break it off…

Neither Dixie nor Eli want to let go…

Slammed is one of the best sports romances that I’ve read in a long time. Victoria Denault knew how to draw my attention to the characters and their issues. She was a pro on hooking me onto the plot. It went by so fast, I couldn’t believe it. Overall, I highly recommend this sexy unforgettable novel to all.

Review: Rugged Texas Cowboy

Synopsis:

Two HOT cowboys. Two tough-as-spurs heroines. Two steamy romances in one book that will leave readers breathless…and begging for more.

COWBOY AND THE CAPTIVE

Melina is one of two gorgeous twin daughters, the clever and considerate one who always spared her parents the humiliation of what her sister Maria had wrought. But now, Melina is finally ready to stand up for herself and seize control of her life—until she is kidnapped by a cowboy, named Jardin, who is dead-set on settling the score with her family. There’s only one catch: In capturing Melina, this tough, rough, hunk of a man has actually found a way to unleash her greatest fantasies, body and soul. . .

COWBOY AND THE THIEF

Beautiful, spirited Angel Manning has always longed to experience the power of her ancestors’ most precious heirloom. Her mother once told her that the legendary Irish torque would lead Angel to the one man worthy of possessing her heart. But when Angel learns that her father, now a widower, has sold the torque to the notorious two-timer Jack Riley, she is furious. Of course she plans to take back what is rightfully hers, by whatever means necessary. But the fate of the ancient Druids works in mysterious ways. . .Could it be that this slick, smooth-talking cowboy was destined to satisfy Angel’s deepest desires all along?

Review:

The Rugged Texas Cowboy by Lora Leigh is an interesting collection of two novellas. I found myself blushing, laughing, and enjoying the characters’ as they developed. Heat is sure to be found here, as well as intrigue. Both stories were realistic. I found myself feeling frightened, worried, and happy for Melina in the first tale. The woman in the next one, Angel, is just as tough as the first one was. I loved how Lora Leigh captured these women and made them feel so real. Their heroes were believable, too. Tough, cocky, and sexy these men would make any woman faint on site. They weren’t expecting the women they found yet once they met, they couldn’t let them go.

Cowboy and the Captive was about a young twin sister whose parents never loved her. She was the good twin. Yet her parents were obsessed with Melina’s evil twin. The evil twin had both her parents hooked on her finger. Melina was harassed into accepting jail time for her twin sister. Now, after another bad time, Melina’s parents are asking her to take the rap once more for Maria. Melina was brutally tortured and raped in prison for taking the rap for her twin the first time. Her parents weren’t there to help her nor did they care. All they are about is the drugged up, no good daughter…and when Melina is kidnapped for her safety…her evil twin goes in search of her. To have her serve another prison term while she goes free again…only Maria wasn’t counting on two cowboys…especially, on Luc. Luc would give anything to keep Melina safe. She was his. Sweet, compassionate, and sexy as hell. Melina and Luc have a connection. He’ll fight like hell to save her.

Cowboy and the Thief is full of fiery heat. A woman who can level any man. The heat the comes off the pages is intense. Both feel a pull but due to the cowboy’s reputation, Angel doesn’t want anything to do with Jack. Jack is a love them and leave them kind of cowboy. Until he meet one woman he can’t stop thinking about…Angel. Angel and her Irish language and charm have Jack wanting her more. She wants a happily ever after…and Jack wants only a one time fling. Fun, intense, and charming. Lora Leigh has presented her hero, Jack, with a female that matches his compassion and challenges him as a man. I loved the playful banter between the two protagonists. Overall, The Rugged Texas Cowboy is a must read. Strong female characters with matching male protagonists. Hot, hilarious, and thrilling to read. Lora Leigh has always been one of my favorite romance novelists. In this book, readers can see why. Her teasing words, vivid scenes, and intensity of curiosity sucked me into this collection. The characters…are ones that tugged at my heart and made me smile throughout the pages. I highly recommend this contemporary romance to readers everywhere.

Review: Where Triples Go to Die

Synopsis:

In irreverent, laugh-out-loud style, Where Triples Go to Die illuminates the messy intersection of sports, race, and romance in contemporary college life. Black superstar Juke Jackson and white counselor Malcolm Wade, each facing relationship crises at home, forge a bond at school as Wade guides Jackson’s quest to join the legion of African Americans who transformed our national pastime. An array of intervening campus issues—date rape, unplanned pregnancy, revenge porn, academic integrity violations, and the aftershocks of war among them—will keep even readers unfamiliar with The Infield Fly Rule turning the pages to find out what happens next.

Rating: 4-stars

Review

Where Triples Go to Die by Phil Hutcheon is a great read. It’s entertaining to follow. Sports never die out with fans. Here, readers get to explore a lot of real life issues. The struggles are believable. The characters make this an interesting journey. A contemporary piece of fiction that had me captivated page-by-page. The content held my full attention. It wasn’t the kind of book, I would normally pick up to read. However, it still grabbed my attention. Engaging, intense, and enough drama to keep those pages turning. Never a dull moment. Loss, friendship, and most importantly baseball are themes found inside this novel. Overall, it was good. I recommend it to those really interested in sports fiction.

Review: Can’t Let Go

Synopsis:

New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter is back with a sizzling Original Heartbreakers tale about an icy war vet and the only woman capable of melting him…
With trust issues a mile long, Ryanne Wade has sworn off men. Then Jude Laurent walks into her bar and all bets are off. The former Army Ranger has suffered unimaginably, first being maimed in battle then losing his wife and daughters to a drunk driver. Making the brooding widower smile is priority one. Resisting him? Impossible.
To Jude, Ryanne is off limits. And yet the beautiful bartender who serves alcohol to potential motorists tempts him like no other. When a rival bar threatens her livelihood, and her life, he can’t turn away. She triggers something in him he thought long buried, and he’s determined to protect her, whatever the cost.
As their already scorching attraction continues to heat, the damaged soldier knows he must let go of his past to hold on to his future…or risk losing the second chance he desperately needs.

Rating: 4-stars

Review:

Can’t Let Go is a sexy as hell kind of book. This contemporary romance will play with readers’ minds. Ryanne is a strong female protagonist. She has tattoos and works as a bartender of her own pub. The Scratching Post. Ryanne is also a cat person. A complete animal lover. She doesn’t know much about animals but when they’re innneed, she wants to help them. Like the female pregnant cat by her pub.
Oh, and there is Jude. A hot male warrior who is as tough as steel. But he doesn’t scare Ryanne. In fact, he has to come to her rescue. She placed herself into the line of danger. And now, it’s up to Jude to protect her. Jude, already lost a woman and his kids. He feels like a failure and still carries the heavy weight of their deaths.
The plot sounds good. It’s steady. Not fast-paced like I would have liked. It does provide both emotional and physical risks on both of the protagonists’ parts. They have to fight for what they want. Ryanne wants Jude. Most of all, she wants him to be happy. Jude, only knows pain. He’s lusting after Ryanne who makes him feel things he doesn’t want to feel. He tries to stay away and not care about her. But fate intervenes. Neither one can let go…
Overall, the plot was believable. Not addictive but good. I recommend Can’t Let Go to others.

As the human race leads longer and healthier lives than ever before, Roxie and Fred’s love story serves as testament to fully embracing the mind, body and spirit, sexual pleasure included, without succumbing to the fears of older age.

Rating: 5-stars

Review:

Roxie and Fred by Richard Alther is a great novel. A unique read. The pages went by quickly. A heated affair between two artists. An older woman of 88-years and a man of 48-years. Their romance is fun to follow. The writer’s words swept me further into the characters’ journey. Surpringly, the woman is in better shape than her younger lover. Roxie and Fred is funny, sweet, and entertaining. I was hooked. A place where age doesn’t matter and love is in raw format. It was beautifully done. Richard Alther knew what he was creating and did it purposely. His characters are hard to forget even after finishing the book. Overall, I highly recommend Roxie and Fred to readers everywhere.

Review: The Criminalist

Synopsis:

“CSI–Without the makeup.”
A Russian model and a reluctant forensic scientist must join forces to fight a dangerous sex trafficking ring.
Paul Connert, just your everyday forensic scientist, keeps a dark secret as he combs through scenes of violent death. Then his world is rocked by the beautiful and desperate Vika Koslava, a Russian model who arrived in the US with her sister for an erotic photo shoot. When the sister disappears, he must join forces with Vika and use all his skills to stop a deadly sex trafficking ring before she meets a similar fate. The Criminalist is the story of forensic science at its best, and it’s all about teamwork, but can everyone on Paul’s team be trusted?
It’s been five years since PAUL CONNERT’S fiancEe died of a drug overdose and he’s never forgiven himself for not trying harder to help. Now he plans to atone. He seeks a woman who reminds him of his lost love and fantasizes about getting her into rehab, even if by force. But then he meets the feisty, alcoholic, VIKA KOSLAVA, a beautiful Russian model who was sent on an erotic website assignment to Santa Barbara with her heroin-addicted sister. When her sister goes missing, Vika is left homeless. Paul uses a clever means to meet Vika, but his intervention fantasy is quickly busted when he meets her, face-to-face.
Paul and his crime lab friends join forces to protect Vika by enrolling her in a secret clinical trial but also continue the search for her sister. We follow Paul and Vika as they go through their daily routines: Paul as he processes a murder scene, Vika as she is exposed to experimental nanoparticles as a part of her addiction therapy. When they get together and form a powerful alliance to fight the violent members of a sex trafficking ring, he will need to use all his scientific skills to keep her safe.
The Author says, “When I retired from a twenty-five year career as a forensic scientist in southern California, I took home a treasure-trove of story ideas. I’ve been there, I’ve collected that and I’ve weathered the subsequent cross-examination, too. When I cooked up The Criminalist, I wanted readers to feel what it was really like to work in a crime lab. I drew from the colorful personalities I had worked with and blended in scenes from real-life cases. The story includes several strong female leads and a plausible, suspenseful plot. There are a few graphic (but not gory) crime scenes and a dash of courtroom drama. Running throughout is an engaging, romantic thread.”

John Houde, author of the award-winning nonfiction book, Crime Lab: A Guide for Nonscientists, has had a career in forensic science spanning four decades. Now he draws upon his experience to spin an intricately woven adventure in the world of truth and lies, love and hate, science and crime…

Rating: 4.5-stars

Review:

The Criminalist by John Houde is an interesting crime novel. Forensic science lovers like myself will enjoy this read. Similar to CSI Criminal Minds this novel demonstrates forensic science in a realistic setting. The suspense builds up as I progressed through the pages. The plot was exciting. Crime, drugs, and a disappearance that kept me intrigued. I liked the forensic scientist, Paul Connert. He is a likable character. It is his duty to investigate the case of her missing sister. Intense, frightening, and very believable. John Houde has created a tale that sent me straight into the book. I was hooked. Visa is another main character, that I liked. Her personality is great. The book brought issues like drugs and sex trafficking out in the open. Overall, it stunning, and I recommend it.

Rating: 4.5-stars

Review:

Love in the Deep South (A Memphis Hood Tale) is a wonderful novel detailing the lives of those who live in Memphis. The language was beautifully done. The charcaters were believable. I felt as though the writer, N.L. Hudson, transported me from my seat straight into her book. Once inside, the drama was thick, entertaining, and well-told. However, the content is graphic and recommended for those 18 and above. Sex, drugs, and murder inside….overall, I recommend this African American novel to readers everywhere.

Review:

Knight Takes Pawn by Martha Sweeney is her 5th novel. I have read everything published by this talented woman. Unlike her previous fictional worlds, Knight Takes Pawn heads in a new genre direction. This one is a psychological thriller. All previous books were contemporary romance. I can honestly say, that Martha Sweeney has a knack for writing the best reads. Whether they are short or full-length novels.  Instantly, I was intrigued wondering how this writer was going to do with her new direction. But I was amazed once again. She totally blew me out of this world and deeeply into her new one. Thrilling, engaging, and dark. Knight Takes Pawn is a must read for all.

Inside this latest book, Knight Takes Pawn, Martha Sweeney take us, readers to a new place. Themes like slavery, cruelty, and trust are incorporated throughout the piece. Trust is greatly lacking due to the spies. Martha Sweeney has created a world that no one can trust someone else. If trust is placed in the wrong person…everything is lost. Gone forever. Death hangs in the air. The suspense of what is to come on every page will leave readers on the edge of their seats. Absolutely, a compelling yet frightening read. One woman is tired of what happens to her and fights back. I love the daring, and boldness of the characters. Evil versus good. I was addicted from beginning to end. Overall, I highly recommend Knight Takes Pawn to readers worldwide.

Review: Pain-Killer

Synopsis:

Blythe is intrigued. It would seem that her escapades into darkness are being watched. A painting, a very personal painting, has arrived in her gallery and the artist seems to know more than she should. A very unforgettable night leads her to realize that her plight into another world that devours flesh and punishes men will not be an easy one. Or will it?

Rating: 5 stars

Review:

Pain-Killer by Kindra Sowder is out of this world. A talented new writer who leaves readers hanging onto every one of her words. Once the book is opened, readers are led into a fast-paced, dark yet edgy world. Horror, blood, and nightmares. The action is plentiful and it seems the pages go by faster than readers think. This novella is part two of the Miss Hyde series. A young sexy woman who has both a good and a bad side. The bad side is one that men never come back to talk about…relationships no matter what kind are scary enough. Imagine dating someone or having a one night stand only then to be drugged, chained up, and murdered by a psychopath. Will the terror ever stop or will the killing continue to climb higher yet? Kindra Sowder’s writing is once more superb as always. I was immediately taken in by her leading female character. I highly recommend reading Pain-Killer during daylight hours. This tale will leave shivers down readers’ spines and a chill that doesn’t disappear. Overall, this is a must read for all.

Review:

This Too Shall Pass by Milena Busquets is a deep emotional journey. Readers like myself won’t ever forget it. Milena Busquets brought me to Spain. A place where the events were happening. This was a tale of a forty-year-old woman who has just lost her mother. The daughter is speaking about her life and journey to her dead mother. The shock and sadness that the main character felt and thought became my own feelings. The point of view from the daughter was interesting. I found myself lost in this woman’s despair, discovery, and life. Lots of sex within this read. I enjoyed reading this summer novel. It was definitely a refreshing story from what I have read in the past. The tale is about love and loss. Deep, thoughtful, and complicated. The scenes played before me…but it was like getting tiny glimpses into the forty-year-old woman’s life. I wished it went deeper into how she felt when she did have sex or what made her happy…every other book I have read there was at least one thing that made the main characters happy. Maybe, in this tale, it was Blanca’s mother that made her happy. Once her mother died, it was like everything didn’t have any meaning…Overall, I recommend this novel to all. It definitely has kept me guessing.

The Duke of Golden of Golden Shire by Nicole Strycharz is one phenomenal read. Talk about wow…Instantly, readers are plunged deep into the plot…and straight into the characters shoes. I cried, laughed, blushed and felt frustrated in more ways than one. Readers will need a tissue box for this remarkable story. I couldn’t stop reading once I opened up the book. The heat, hot sex, and emotional journey, was a million times that of any other novel I have ever read.  Those most talked about movies that move the audience in ways that you can’t stop thinking about them…well, The Duke of Golden Shire is exactly that. I finished it in one night and haven’t stopped thinking about it since then…Nicole Strycharz is beyond talented. Her words pull readers in and then wrap a tight vine around them and keep them prisoner until the ending. OMG! The ending…I can’t say too much without spoiling it…but readers will be on hands and knees beginning for the next brilliant adventure. This was masterfully woven for all readers’ entertainment and I highly recommend it to readers worldwide.  I know for a fact that I simply can’t get enough of Nicole Strycharz’s writing…her characters will blow readers away.

Review: All Summer Long

Synopsis:

All Summer Long follows one charming New York couple – prominent interior designer Olivia Ritchie and her husband Nicholas Seymour, an English professor and true southern gentleman.  They are seemingly polar opposites, yet magnetically drawn together and in love for more than fourteen years.

As they prepare to relocate to Charleston, S.C., Olivia, the ultimate New Yorker, has reservations about the promise she made to retire in the Lowcountry, where Nick wants to return home and lead a more peaceful life.  They are moving north to south, fast pace versus slow pace and downsizing.  Nick is ecstatic.  Olivia is not.   She can’t let Nick know that their finances are not what he thought.   Her client list is evaporating, their monetary reserves are dwindling and maybe that house she picked out on Sullivans Island needs too much work.  Thank God, for her assistant, Roni Larini, her right (and sometimes left) hand.

As they find themselves pondering the next step of their lives, Olivia and Nick travel with her billionaire clients and their friends and are swept up into the world of the ultra-rich and explore the globe with a cast of zany eccentrics over one tumultuous, hot summer. All as Olivia grapples with what lies ahead for her and Nick.

This is a story of how plans evolve and lives change in unexpected ways, how even those who have everything are still looking for something more.  Even the most successful people can often struggle to keep things together.  All Summer Long asks the ultimate question: can money buy happiness?  From Sullivans Island to Necker Island to Nantucket to the beaches of Southern Spain, we’ll come to recognize the many faces of true love, love that deepens and endures but only because one woman makes a tremendous leap of faith. And that leap changes everything.

Marriage is not easy but it takes courage, sacrifices, and love. A woman and her husband get to take a vacation and it’s on this vacation she gets to think about everything. Maybe her marriage is okay and will survive no matter what is happening with her work and career. Marriage, after all, is for better or worse, rich or poor. All Summer Long is an exploration and deep thinking that leaves readers wondering what will happen next. Dorothea Benton Frank portrays the life of a wife and husband beautifully in this tale. I found the beginning a bit slow for my taste but once I moved past that…the plot was steady. Overall, I enjoyed the sneak peek into these characters lives and recommend it to all.

Review: Even Odds

Synopsis:

Geeky meets kinky in this first deliciously sexy novel in the Slices of Pi series by RITA-nominated author Elia Winters, which follows the romantic rendezvous of the employees at PI Games, a gaming company based out of sultry Florida.

As a design manager at PI Games, Isabel Suarez is no stranger to the struggles of being a woman in a male-dominated industry. But when her team attends a gaming convention on the other side of the country, she figures there’s no harm in putting aside her professional demeanor for one weekend to participate in a risqué scavenger hunt. Why shouldn’t she let loose and have a little fun?

A careless romp soon turns into more, however, when Isabel ends up having a fling with Caleb Portland, an artist, and animator, without knowing he has just been hired to partner with her at her company—and Caleb can’t bring himself to tell her. When they end up coworkers a few weeks later, they need to find a way to work together and keep things strictly professional. Caleb doesn’t want to take on a relationship and risk failure. Isabel doesn’t want to risk ruining the professional reputation she’s worked so hard to develop. But when faced with the undeniable sizzling chemistry between them, will either of them be able to resist temptation?

A sexy and witty tale of romance and modern workplace politics, Even Odds is the latest winning entry in Elia Winters’ unique and well-loved erotic novels.

Rating: 5 stars

Review:

Even Odds by Elia Winters is absolutely a must read for all. This is one geeky romance that will keep readers laughing and falling in love with the characters. The female character, Isabel, is the only female working in an all male dominated area. Game software. She designs games and is now in the manager position. Before moving to the PI Games she worked at another company. A company where she experienced a disastrous relationship which then lead to sexual harassment. The sad part was that the Human Resource person told her that words weren’t much of a harassment and that they wouldn’t take her complaints seriously. Isabel ended up taking action that suited the company better than helping solve her issues at work. This past life experience has left her feeling like an ice queen at work. Acting as sexless as possible to survive working in the gaming industry surrounded by all men. An area that showed me that was hard for any woman including Isabel to be taken seriously by men as a professional. Her hard work pays off…but there’s one employee who makes her uncomfortable…will she face up to him or let him continue his harassments against her? The other part to this exciting tale was the trip to DiceCon and that’s where everything heats up…Isabel wants to let loose for once and three of her teammates get her in on a game that has her meeting the one man that might just be a forever thing…a man that can not only make her feel like a woman but also respect her in the industry. That combination alone would make any woman’s knees go weak. Isabel and Caleb are a perfect couple. Their journey was realistic and believable. The pages got hotter with every turn….and the plot sets readers on the edge of their seats wondering what comes next.  Even Odds by Elia Winters is by overall, a hot and brilliantly well-written geeky romance that all will enjoy. I highly recommend this novel to readers everywhere.

Review: The A to Z of You and Me

Synopsis:

A striking literary debut of love and mortality, The A to Z of You and Me is the story of a man who doesn’t have much time, his love for a girl who isn’t there, and the game he plays while waiting that illuminates the devastating and beautiful turns of life. The A-Z game. For Ivo, it’s a way to pass the time, a way to avoid the pain and a way to think about what really got him here. His hospice nurse suggested it – think of a body part for each letter, and think of memories connected to each one. And so begins the revealing of his misspent life: the terrible teenage choices, friendships made and cracked, the love he’ll never get back. He remembers the girl who tried to help him, the friend who wouldn’t let her, and the sickness that chases him even now.

Rating: 4.5 stars

Review:

The A to Z of You and Me by James Hannah is a journey that sucks me in whole and keeps me turning the pages. Ivo is just a regular everyday kind of man. He fell into the wrong crowd, did stuff that he wasn’t proud of, and lost a chance at love. Now, as an elderly man, in a hospice, he knows his life is short. A nurse has him go through an exercise using every letter of the alphabet to come up with a story or a life memory attached to each letter. As Ivo goes through the alphabet, I got to travel through snippets of his younger self. Ivo lost his father to cancer, he experienced both bad and good days during his younger life. I enjoyed following the person he was back then and the man he has become. He knows what he did wrong and wants to make things better. He’s a little afraid, but soon…he finds some peace and love in the end. I truly enjoyed this talented writer’s style and the well-written plot. The characters were well-developed and were able to drag me into the scenes as though I were experiencing it all for real. The A to Z of You and Me by James Hannah is definitely a literary novel that I would recommend to all.

Review: A Dangerous Love

Synopsis:

I’m the local sheriff of a small Montana town. Blue is the owner of the local pub. We have a great friendship, but I’m starting to want more. I’m not sure when Blue had become so important to me, or when I started to see her in a light other than friendship. All I know is that I want her, badly. She’s a little hesitant, at first, to get involved, but I finally convince her to go out on a ‘real’ date with me.

Soon after our initial date, she starts getting harassed and threatened. Her pub is even set on fire. Someone is after her, and we don’t know who or why, but it definitely has something to do with her involvement with me. Will our new, budding relationship survive the turmoil and danger?

Rating: 5 stars

Review:

A Dangerous Love by G.J. Cox is superb. I was immediately taken into the life of one very sexy sheriff whose beyond wealthy and a sassy lady who owns a bar. Both of these characters with their personalities, love, and life troubles had me intrigued.  Their instant hot chemistry filled the pages. Both are so crazy about each other and when they suddenly let it all out…the heat burns up…like a one-hundred-degree summer day. Jealousy, danger, and a hot romance all are on the line in this magnificent title by G.J. Cox. This was the first of her novels that I have ever read…and I was blown away by the compelling plotline and the irresistible characters. The story was fast-paced, steamy, and suspenseful. If it’s not one dangerous thing…it’s another…and the two characters…both Blue and her sheriff lover may lose each other if the criminal or criminals are not caught soon. A Dangerous Love is addictive, highly entertaining, and overall a must read for readers everywhere. I highly recommend this romance to all.

Review: Scoring with Sir

Synopsis:

A teacher with secrets meets her strict Sir match. Izzy earns hot bedroom lessons but scoring as Sir’s mistress brings red cards and penalties.

Teacher and football fan turned secret erotica author Izzy Tennant needs full-on steam scenes and real-life experience for her debut novel. Ex-premier league footballer now PE head Will Darby has the moves but his sports pedigree causes friction. Their sass threatens a lust volcano or an ugly fistfight. The sensual tension builds to an inferno when they re-enact erotica scenes at his player mansion.

Scoring items on her X-rated kink list, provides Izzy with bestseller spice. But how will her Penalty Master take the revelation that he’s just research? And how will Izzy handle the news that Will’s keeping secrets of his own? Falling for her sex mentor and craving his extreme play wasn’t part of the bonkbuster plan. Nor was reliving past hurts in action replay.

Scoring with Sir is a contemporary romantic erotic comedy with a Glee setting, a Dom/sub secret, a football crazy heroine and an A-list football star hero. Banter and bedroom action guaranteed and fantasies scored in memorable style.

Rating: 5 stars

Review:

Scoring with Sir by Judy Jarvie is a hilarious sweet tale that features both sports and romance all perfectly wrapped up into one stunning novel. Readers who love a bit of erotica, spontaneity and adventure will surely fall in love with this new title. Judy Jarvie brings readers a laugh-out-loud story that will keep readers sucked in until the last page. Her main character, Izzy, is an English teacher by day and an erotic book club leader by night. So far, not one man has had her body in heat…until she meets the sexy, hot, and frustrating new Physical Education teacher, Darby. He has her wanting hot sex every time she’s near him.  Judy Jarvie’s writing is one that hooks readers and keeps them intrigued. The characters are so believable, I can’t believe that it’s just fiction. Izzy is just like any other real woman with wants and needs that need feeling… the only question is…is Darby the man to fulfill all her fantasies? Overall, I loved reading this romantic comedy and look forward to reading more by this talented writer. I highly recommend Scoring with Sir to readers worldwide.

Review: Jazz Moon (A Novel)

Synopsis:

In a lyrical, captivating debut set against the backdrop of the Harlem Renaissance and glittering Jazz Age Paris, Joe Okonkwo creates an evocative story of emotional and artistic awakening.

On a sweltering summer night in 1925, beauties in beaded dresses mingle with hepcats in dapper suits on the streets of Harlem. The air is thick with reefer smoke, and jazz pours out of speakeasy doorways. Ben Charles and his devoted wife, Angeline, are among the locals crammed into a basement club to hear jazz and drink bootleg liquor. For the aspiring poet, Ben, the swirling, heady rhythms are a revelation. So is Baby Back Johnston, an ambitious trumpet player who flashes a devilish grin and blasts jazz dynamite from his horn. Ben finds himself drawn to the trumpeter—and to Paris where Baby Back says everything is happening.

In Paris, jazz and champagne flow eternally, and blacks are welcomed as exotic celebrities, especially those from Harlem. It’s an easy life that quickly leaves Ben adrift and alone, craving solace through anonymous dalliances in the city’s decadent underground scene. From chic Parisian cafés to seedy opium dens, his odyssey will bring new love, trials, and heartache, even as echoes from the past urge him to decide where true fulfillment and inspiration lie.

Rating: 5 stars

Review:

Jazz Moon by Joe Okonkwo will make readers question everything they read and feel. Nothing like a novel about jazz that brings out the poetic side to everyone especially the characters. A debut novel that brings, to life, the action, drama, and passion of 1925. Times where everything beckoned and called to those who hearts wanted more. Inside this title, readers will get a glimpse into a poet’s lifestyle. He has a devoted wife but is angry with her…he soon find himself attracted to another who brings out the heat of raw animalistic desire deep within his blood. A stirring unlike any other. Paris is a place where art, passion, and desire come in abundance and that’s where both Ben and his new lover find themselves. Joe Okonkwo brings readers the best world of fiction readers will find. Race, jazz, and travel are deep topics easily explored within this exciting well-written plot. Overall, I highly recommend this new novel, Jazz Moon, to readers everywhere.

Review:

Inside Shoe Fetish 2, readers will get a glimpse into three women’s lives. Friends who have to go about their life journey finding their way through it all. Romance, shoes, men, and everyday life struggles all part of growing up and learning how to balance. I love how both writers, Sharon Bennett, and Beatrice Moore have bought out a woman’s love of shoes and men into a beautifully woven story that will capture readers everywhere. Going through men is exactly like trying on a pair of shoes, to see, if they fit. Women’s shoes can tell you exactly how she’s feeling…because they bring out certain sides to each and every woman. It’s like dying one’s hair or putting on a particular shade of lipstick. We all have those inner dark secrets that make us who we are.  The tight-knit group of friends helps each woman go through each step of her journey. The ending is just as beautiful as they beginning. I loved reading this tale and following each woman as she changed throughout the book. I  think this portrays a realistic side of women and men in relationships that makes it easy for readers everywhere to connect to…as well as to enjoy. Overall, I highly recommend Shoe Fetish 2 to readers worldwide.

Review: NOOKIETOWN

Synopsis:

Recently divorced, 40-something single-mom, Lucy, is lonely, bored and craving physical connection. So, when her trusted long-time married friend, Nancy, begs Lucy to sleep with her husband to save her marriage, Lucy goes for it. It’s such a success, the two friends invent a town-wide underground barter system whereby Nancy’s married girlfriends sub-contract Lucy’s divorcee friends to sleep with their husbands so they don’t have to as often. It’s a win, win, win- for a while. Then it all goes to hell in a hand-basket.

Laugh-out-loud funny, emotionally provocative and at times racy, Nookietown is a story of risk-taking, marriage, honesty and desire, and what one woman rationalizes in order to get what she wants.

Rating: 5 stars

Review:

NOOKIETOWN by V.C. Chickering is indeed one realistic yet funny read that readers worldwide can easily enjoy. Readers are introduced to a group of women made up of two sides. The married women and the divorcees. Both come together in this quirky tale that shows the real ups and downs of every marriage. Men want sex. Women want a life and great sex. But when one is married sex life gets complicated. Men are horny and women are picky on when, where, and how they want the sex to be. It’s crazy, insane, but shows a part of life that readers know exists today. Maybe not a group of friends that come up with a silly scheme like contracting their husbands out to their women friends…because we all know sex is complicated. There are no black and white versions. It’s messy, emotional, and dirty. By dirty…I mean both sides play dirty. A woman gets pregnant from having sex with her friend’s husbands…but who the father is…is a mystery. She always wanted to have a baby and maybe she just might get what she asked for…however, everything else will get sticky when it involves her friends and their husbands.  V.C. Chickering masterfully writes a comedy that deals with consenting adults and the marriage life. Funny, addictive, and well-written. Overall, NOOKIETOWN is easy to relate to and to get lost within its page. I look forward to reading more by this talented writer and highly recommend this novel to readers everywhere.

Review:

The Beauty and the Feast by J.R. Barret is a highly entertaining romance. It’s hot, sexy, and funny sweet. This was the first novel I have read by this talented individual. The characters were fun to read about and follow along with as the plot developed. Readers will be enticed with this title from the first page and onward. Food, culture, and amazing travel readers will get to taste and view when reading this brilliant novel. I found myself completely lost as I read this story. It was like I was right there watching and engaging in the exciting scenes around me. The smells were so vivid that I found myself almost tasting the delicious meals prepared by the main character. She is beautiful, smart, and fun.

J.R Barret’s novel is steady paced and well-written. Once readers open it up to read it won’t be put down until they read the last page. Inside The Beauty and the Feast, readers are taken into a kitchen where we find our main character cooking and then being hosed down by a horny teenage boy. A horny teenage boy that she has to babysit for her boss. He takes great pleasure in soaking her shirts until they are transparent..then leaves grinning like a cashmere cat in Alice of Wonderland. Readers will be intrigued by Eva whose cooking skills will make anyone’s mouth water…especially that of a hot sexy man who heats up her dreams. Gabe is soon led to Eva and unlike most romances..this woman has a lot more than looks that attract a red-blooded male like him. But what fate holds in store for them both is one, readers must find out on their own. I absolutely loved reading this title..the cover and name of the book fit in perfectly with the story and its characters. Spicy, sensual, and masterfully woven, The Beauty and the Feast, is definitely a must read for all.

My Review:

The Moral Line by Vanessa Bogenholm is one journey readers won’t ever forget. A woman who loves her husband and loves being intimate with him…then to lose it all. Her life then spirals into an unknown place. How will she survive? Then life takes an interesting route and she finds a way to keep her feet firmly on the ground and her head up. Catering to men to support one’s self is a risky business. It can be challenging and difficult. Especially, when some men attract one’s heart to them. Lines can be blurred. Hearts can be worn out until there’s nothing left.

The Moral Line shows readers an inside glimpse into love’s good and bad sides. Readers especially women will see the fragile side of men. Men can be violent and cruel. Sometimes bitter and this can change a woman. A woman just like Alexandria. At first love was good then went sour. This story is one adventure that will leave readers breathless and intrigued. Every page will lure readers deeper into its irresistible plot. The one remarkable strong going woman like Alexandria give women hope. Hope that they can carry on when life gives them lemons. Overall, I highly recommend this well-written story to readers everywhere.  Vanessa Bogenholm is a talented writer whose words can persuade any reader to her fictional masterpiece.

My Review:

Jack of All Trades by DH Smith is an intriguing tale full of drama and excitement. This is the first novel, that I have read by DH Smith. Readers will definitely find enough action to keep them glued to the pages. There are times, when readers will think something is about to happen and then doesn’t due to another character popping on scene. Then there’s  a romance that is dead and the sole cause of trouble.  Next, there’s one man doing his best, with his failed marriage and staying away from one sin. Mystery, suspense, and murder can all be found in this brilliantly well-written novel. For fans of Clue and of Agatha Christie’s novels, this is a must read.

DH Smith has masterfully woven many lives together in this stunning novel. Jack of All Trades fits perfectly with the overall story. A man, who starts his own business, is soon doing work that might be the end of him. Jack of All Trades…is exactly that. Jack finds himself doing major work for a couple. Stuff that goes out of his comfort zone and yet he agrees. Money is definitely worth what they ask for until it goes too far. Exactly how far his employers will go and in what direction will be for readers to discover. Not only that but readers will see the inner workings of a nasty affair, a man being beaten almost to a pulp, and an innocent man being framed. Readers will feel like they are there experiencing the scenes first hand. DH Smith has masterfully created a way to lure readers.  Readers will easily connect so deeply with the characters. The conflicts are plentiful and the suspense hangs thickly in the air. Overall, I highly recommend reading, Jack of All Trades to readers everywhere.

Book Review: The Forbidden Man by Elle Wright

The Forbidden Man is one amazing romance novel that captures the realistic story of one woman who choose the wrong man. Sydney Williams’s fiance the wrong man. Her fiance turned into a man that was completely opposite from the man he is now. Den is the kind of man who begs his woman to stay with him when he keeps going behind her back and sleeps with other women. Sydney and Den’s brother always made up excuses for Den but not anymore. Den’s brother Morgan has always loved Sydney but because she’s with his brother Den, he won’t go near her romantically. But as Den screws up for the last time,  Morgan just might be able to have Sydney as his woman. But how will that affect his relationship with his brother and the family who kindly took him in as their own?
Elle Wright’s novel, The Forbidden Man, is one fantastic read. Romance at it’s finest. Humor, drama, and enough heat to keep readers lured in until the end. The ending itself will leave readers with a need to read more by this talented mastermind, Elle Wright. Her words are perfect and her characters are believable. I couldn’t believe her novel was indeed fiction. It was just that good of a read. I highly recommend this story to readers worldwide. You won’t regret reading this beautifully written novel. Book Review: Jagged Addiction by Lashell Collins

Jagged Addiction (Jagged Ivory Series Book 3)

Jagged Addiction is the third amazing novel in the Jagged Ivory Series by Lashell Collins. Her talent is easily recognizable when you start reading page one of nay of her novels. Each novel contains a special story featured on a selective rock star band mate and the woman that comes crashing into his life. All it takes is for one special woman to tilt the band mate’s world upside down. There is nothing simple about the raw romantic attraction and that deep gut feeling called love. This time, loves comes gently tapping on the shoulder of the jagged Ivory band mates. Can he find his way about or will everything go crazy?

OMG. I cannot stress just how stunning this story is. Lashell Collins has done it again for the third time. Her romance writing is a huge hit. Almost as famous as her characters rock band. Jagged Addiction is just like it sounds. One of the Jagged Ivory band mates is going through a bad time. While on tour he goes into a bathroom and his other mate has to go find help. Soon band mate, Benji Staffon is dying from an over dose until one of his band mates, Noah Ivory, uses CPR to help Benji. Next, the ambulance comes and takes Benji away to a hospital and in the mean time, Noah and the rest were told if that if the CPR wasn’t performed right when Noah did it, that Benji would have died and been lost forever.

Noah and the rest of the team are shocked at the realization and come to a pact to help Benji recover. Benji goes through rehab while his band mates continue to tour. But they are there if Benji needs them. Benji goes through with the fear of almost dying. The has the fear of cleaning up come faster than Benji thinks. Soon he’s released back out of rehab and is worried about all the what-ifs. Will he manage to stay clean? Can he still play? All this goes on while Benji meets his new tech. A tech that happens to be a super hot girl who loves graphic novels and is scared of scary movies. Her life hood when she grew up is similar to that of Benji’s and somehow he feels connected to her. But, what he doesn’t realize is that a recovering addict can still stay clean and fall in love at the same time.

Overall, I highly recommend reading this brilliant series by Lashell Collins. Her novels are a must read for everyone. An adult romance that will be addictive and captivating as readers continue to follow the Jagged Ivory band and their obstacles along the way. I fell in love with this writer work and know for a fact everyone else will too. I rate Jagged Addiction a five out of five stars and look forward to reading the next hot read in this exciting series.

Book Review: Jagged Hearts by Lashell Collins

Jagged Hearts (Jagged Ivory Series Book 1)

Jagged Hearts is the first perfect installment to a great new romance series. Readers will be wowed from the first page like I was. I choose this novel, because the story’s synopsis aught my eye and from there I wanted to know more about what happened. Trust me, once you pick up this story you won’t be putting it down anytime soon. This is just the beginning in a stunning series of more hot reads to come. Lashell Collins is one very talented writer! Her words will leave readers in a huge emotional addictive state that never ends.

Jagged Hearts is indeed everything the name suggests. Two souls who happen to find one another by chance and after four years neither has stopped thinking about the other one. Noah is everything women and girls could want in the man of their dreams. A talented and bright individual who is rough on the outside but sweet where it matters most. Noah just got out of a relationship with a girl who didn’t believe in him or his dreams. Noah couldn’t stand that she didn’t trust me him at all. So, he left her and little did he know fate was going to dangle the right woman in front of his nose.  Mercy Holland and her friends hung out where Noah and his band played. She loved their music and was a loyal fan. When he hits on her, Mercy takes what he gives. But then things change and he leaves her behind. His band excels and make it to the tops. Every song is dedicated to a woman Noah left behind. However, fate isn’t finished with Noah nor Mercy just yet. Noah and his band end up with a manager. A manager whose daughter so happens to be the one girl he left behind. Now, as she is hanging around the band, Noah has to struggle with his hidden emotions and with his older brother hitting on her. Plus, there’s her dad who is his band’s manager. Can things get better or worse?

I loved reading Jagged Hearts by Lashell Collins. Her characters are just too irresistible and too hot to ignore. Book Review: Jennifer and Rocket by Anita Claire

Jennifer and Rocket by Anita Claire is another incredible romance novel within the brilliant stunningly series. All of the novels in The Princess of Silicon Valley can be read separately. That’s one of the reasons I love this series so much. Jennifer is tired of metro-sexual men. She wants a real man. When she eyes Rocket with the tats and piercings, she doesn’t think there’s much more to this hot man than meets the eyes. Rocket has spent his entire time, wasting it away with drinking and tons of women. But now he wants to settle down and the middle school teacher, Jennifer, is the one he wants to settle with. He takes her to an art gallery where she finally learns there is indeed more to this sexy man that she first thought. Jennifer’s story isn’t complete without the help of her college friends and her title: Princess. Anita Claire has beautifully written an adult novel that is realistically enchanting. Her characters are real, hot, and have flaws that make them interesting. I loved reading each and everyone of her novels in this exciting series. Every girl in this series has gone through their own situations and there’s always plenty of hot men to satisfy readers’ attention. I would recommend reading Jennifer and Rocket to all. I enjoyed their adventure and journey and I have no doubt others will fall in love with them too. Overall, I rate it a five out of five stars.

What Book are You Reading?

What book are you currently reading? Did you liked this book or hate it? And why?

I currently read a novel that I just received the other day in the mail. It’s called Faux Happiness. The story was compelling. It lured me in from the beginning leading to asking why. Why did it happen to the character? Will she make it through it? How does it affect her future? A story about a young girl who was raped by her cousin. It doesn’t matter what your skin tone is, rape still happens to young girls and boys all over the world. The novel brought to my attention the bad things that still go on, while I am living my safe life here in my small rural town. I would love to say my town operates backwards and is the slowest and most boring place to live in ever, but at least it’s safe. Safe enough that I never worry about being raped. Or killed. Or robbed. Or beaten to death. After reading this small but well written story. I realized that crimes are still happening. And what I am doing? Going about my life like their isn’t a single worry. But there is. Terrorists attacking nations all over, rape happening in side of family homes, and little babies dying before they take their very first breathe into the world.

Another novel that I read before this one that I recently wrote a book review for was called Count Your Blessings by Sharon Sala. Her novel was the hard and real truth on what happens within our world every day. Cheating among spouses.  A woman marries a man who is a preacher and then finds him cheating on her. Would you think that a good man who is head of a church would commit such a crime? No! I surely hope one wouldn’t. But it opened my eyes to the harsh reality of the cruel world we all live in today.

Another novel that I read before these two is called Barking Madness. A YA novel that tells a story about a young girl who suffered in the past from a father who was crazy and attacked his own family. And now as a teenager, with a new father, move with her mom and little sister to a new place. Little does she know that the terrifying monster who has wrecked her life as a kid and now as a teen was her father who was released from prison. She remembered being attacked by a wolf and soon believes that she is a monster too. She believed that she turned into a monster at full moon and killed her friends herself. But it was actually her father who did. This is another hard fact to consume. The psychological part of those who enjoy killing. But the girl didn’t watching her friends die. She wanted to be normal to be good. And the bigger question is did she actually turn into a wolf? Or was it all part of her mind? And if part of her mind than does that mean she has inherited a part of her dad’s psychological state? And what about her one friend who thinks he saw her turn into a wolf? Does that too make him crazy? Or was it an overreaction to fear and teen hormones hitting sky high?

These three novels are 5 star reads. I would highly recommend them to all readers. I enjoyed reading these because each one was unique and brought to life the stories and characters deep inside the plots waiting for us all to discover and uncover the real truths. Each author as brilliantly spun a marvelous story the teaches us all something about the real world in which we live in today.
