Review: The Rejected Writer’s Christmas Wedding

Synopsis:

Southlea Bay’s favorite sweethearts, Flora and Dan, are getting married and the members of the Rejected Writers’ Book Club are excited to help. Especially the group’s head honcho, Doris Newberry, who, much to Flora’s frustration, wants to control every detail, attempting to strong-arm Flora into accepting ridiculous wedding vows, wayward bongo players and into wearing a huge, old-fashioned wedding dress. But when a new resident arrives in town with information about Flora’s past that threatens her chance of happiness, the overwhelmed bride-to-be disappears overnight. To find her, The Rejected Writers set off on yet another zany road trip adventure, this time to a make-believe Bavarian town. Where they meet lederhosen clad, young men, are entertained by oompah bands, go on wild sleigh rides, and sing in a yodeling competition. But when they eventually find the bride and the bridegroom learns the truth about her, will he still want to marry her or will all the wedding plans be in vain.

Review

The Rejected Writer’s Christmas Wedding by Suzanne Kelman is an interesting tale. This book is definitely for women of all ages. The rejected writer’s club is a group of older women who write and discuss books. They’re clever, sweet, and caring. Every time something mysterious happens, the group gets nosy. This time, it involves a wedding. The tight group of women are fun to follow. Their funny and more energetic than they should be for their age. The plot was good but slow. Tons of humor and intrigue to keeps readers like myself guessing. Overall, I enjoyed reading it.

Review: Totally His

Synopsis:

Actress Sophie Birch is used to having to look out for herself. So when her theater catches fire and a big guy scoops her up into his arms to save her, she’s going to fight every step of the way. Even if he’s a cop. And really sexy. And his arms feel oh-so-good.
Finn Kelly can’t help but appreciate how good the woman in his arms looks in her sexy pink lingerie. Even if she’s currently resisting arrest.
But as the two get to know each other, they’re both surprised by the things Finn is willing to do to get closer to her. And when Sophie’s estranged father arrives in town and starts causing trouble, the stage is set for disaster…unless Finn can convince her that, for once in her life, she has someone to lean on.

Review:

Totally His by Erin Nicholas is another believable tale. The characters really had me sucked into the plot. The pacing was steady. Felt slow in some areas. There were a lot of issues explored in this read. Issues like bad parenting, pathological liars, and anger issues. The main character, Sophie Birch is one I’ll never forget. She was easy to relate to as well as like. Her journey was hard from the beginning and got crazier with every page. I hated her father. He is a character that I’ll never like. If he was written out of the novel by the ending, I would have enjoyed it more. But he wasn’t. Frank Birch was nothing but a constant pain and torment to his only child. I cried for her. Her pain was so real. Erin Nicholas took the reality and unpleasantness of life and brought to life on these pages. I can totally see this novel being a movie. I know without taking a vote that her father is the most unlinked character of them all. Overall, it was a journey. Sexy, sweet, and heartbreaking all at once. I recommend this to all.

Review: A Blazing Gilded Age

Synopsis:

A Blazing Gilded Age is the epic story of a volatile nation burning with ambition, yet bleeding with injustice. It was a time of profound change; boldly transforming from an agrarian backwater into an industrial powerhouse.

Center stage in this turbulent saga, are the Wozniaks; a poor coal mining family struggling to achieve the elusive American dream. Confronted by the evil ways of their ruthless and depraved boss, Archibald Desmond Huxley, the Wozniak family is thrust into utter turmoil, thus igniting a blazing journey of revenge and survival.

During the Wozniaks’ quest, the lavish lifestyle of Huxley and his fellow titans, including J.P. Morgan, Carnegie, Vanderbilt, Teddy Roosevelt, Mark Twain and others, are woven into the story line, thus painting a broad and vivid canvas of 19th century America. Springing to life are legendary figures and historic events that accurately depict an era boiling with bravado, innovation and astounding progress, yet blistering with corporate greed, class warfare, and political corruption. After many unexpected twists of fate (some fortuitous and others heartbreaking), the Wozniaks emerge victorious, thus finally achieving the American dream, yet not without scars.

Both powerful and poignant, “A Blazing Gilded Age” serves as an entertaining and enlightening read of how and why America has gone astray, and why it became a world leader. While on a personal level, it imparts the harrowing, yet triumphant, tale of a family’s struggle to survive in an age that, in many ways, was as dark and rough as coal, and, at times, could be as blazing as Hell.

Review:

A Blazing Gilded Age by Rich DiSilvio is a talented writer. His characters both big and small came alive on the pages. The plot was deep, heartfelt, and thorough. History mixed in with fiction. Made this a new favorite. America wasn’t always great…a lot of bad went with the good. Here, inside this tale, I got to explore the depth in which Americans suffered. Suffered for survival. Power, greed, corruption and progress we’re just several themes mentioned in the book.

One particular family of low class is mentioned in great detail. They’re not famous. They work like slaves. Slaving for the bigger guys. Hard labor, suffering, and agnogy just to make a few pennies to survive…barely surviving. A Blazing Gilded Age is dark, haunting, and heartbreaking. Child labor, poverty, and loss are featured here in great detail. I felt like I traveled back in time to the late 19th century. Overall, Rich DiSilivio’s latest book is a must read for all. I highly recommend it.

Review:

Doughnuts and Deception by Agatha Frost is another brilliant masterpiece. Julia is a baker but also one of the best ameature sleuths ever. She practically does the entire police force’s work for them. And not a single officer believes her when she’s informing them about a new case and why they should investigate it. However, there’s one investigator on her side…Barker. He’s completely fallen in love with the stubborn, brace, and smart Julia. Julia also likes Barker just as much. Julia’s gran is crazy but hilarious as well. She ‘spies’ on Julia and Barker as they do things and speaks her mind like no one else I know. Caring, sweet, but crazy older lady. Then, there’s the adoptive teenager, Jessie. Jessie was homeless until Julia took her under her own roof. Both Jessie and Julia are good bakers.

In this latest piece, the main characters are taken into a string of murders deemed as ‘not murdered’ and the police won’t take interest. These murders involve mostly homeless men. Men that Jessie knew when she was homeless. Jessie takes the murders to heart….and Julia can’t help but to dig into the mystery. Then, there’s Barker who will have to stick with Julia if he wants her to be safe…but his career and everything else might be jeopardized…overall, Doughnuts and Deception is another highly engaging and well-told story. Agatha Frost has once more caught my full attention and my heart with her new book. I highly recommend this read to all.

Best of Luck by Jill Sanders is another sensational hit by this talented writer. It’s no wonder her books are stunning. The romance brewing inside this latest novel was heartfelt. I fell deeply in love with the plot. Fast, engaging, and hilarious. A bit of suspense and danger but mostly a sweet entertaining read from beginning to end.

Jill Sanders has once again, written a superb contemporary romance. I love her writing style. The words are written in a way that entices readers like myself further into the plot. Love…is powerful. Imagine holding onto a love thatnever really gotto begin and then that person comes back…the old feelings come back hitting harder than before. Especially, for Tom. He’s had a thing for Amber for a long time. Her career has made it impossible for Tom to forget how much he likes her…and then when she came back…it was a breaking point. Tom wasn’t going to do nothing…he was going to show Amber. But not all is well in Amber’s world. Threats are happening and Tom isn’t letting it slide. He’s going to do all he can to protect her. Best of Luck is  a romance that shows dreams can come true. Amber made her dream career work but now she doubts it. I felt like that characters were real and their issues were easily believable. Review

Computer Love Inc. III (Blood Brothers) by both Kurt and Jessica Hansen is the third installment to their amazing science fiction series. What I love about this novel, is that it contains all of the science fiction elements and is still addictive to read. I normally do not read science fiction. However, when I do, I am very picky. Kurt and Jessica Hansen have created a stunning piece. Their book brings out my other favorite elements like mystery, suspense, and intrigue. I was hooked.

The story once more has political and government issues. Plus, the artificial intelligence robot is a major hazard to all. It’s strengths make it a threat. The government wants it. The role of science and how far it goes shows readers the scariness of it all. How far is too much? When science reaches that boiling point where it becomes it an issue to all makes me wonder if scientists really would go as far as possible to stop their evil creations…Computer Love Inc. III (Blood Brothers) is indeed a compelling read. Readers will love traveling in time and following along as the suspense builds up…overall, I highly recommend this tale to readers worldwide

Review: Sister Eve and the Blue Nun

Sister Eve and the Blue Nun (A Divine Private Detective Agency Mystery Book 3) by [Hinton, Lynne]

Synopsis:

After a murder at the monastery, Sister Eve may need a miracle if she is to prove a dear friend isn’t a cold-blooded killer.

Someone has poisoned Dr. Kelly Middlesworth—a researcher on the life and ministry of 17th-century’s revered “Blue Nun”—and a set of irreplaceable historic documents have disappeared before they could even be examined.

When all evidence seems to point to the victim’s brother, Sister Eve sets out to expose the killer and learn the explosive truth those missing manuscripts might contain.

Chasing a killer is dangerous work, and as her two worlds collide, Sister Eve may need some heavenly help simply to survive.

Rating: 5 stars

Review:

Sister Eve and the Blue Nun by Lynne Hinton is the first novel that I have read in the series. It instantly intrigued my interest. A motorcycle nun who has the habit and skills to solve murders. That sentence alone popped up an image that I couldn’t fathom. Yet…inside this mystery I was soon able to see and understand it. With all the stories I have heard about nuns, in particular, this fictional novel peeked my curiosity…and boy was I glad it did.

Lynne Hinton’s murder mystery is set at a monastery where a nun’s friend is being charged as the killer. Knowing the friend isn’t the cold-blooded killer, Sister Eve sets out to find who is. A researcher looking at very old documents is soon murdered. The very old  documents are missing and an innocent person’s life is at stake. Sister Eve and the Blue Nun is full of danger, intrigue, and excitement. Lynn Hinton keeps readers on their toes and guessing until Sister Eve reveals who the murderer actually is. I loved the suspense. I thought at one moment Sister Eve wasn’t going to make it alive and then she did…at least out of that tough situation but the story doesn’t end after that. Readers will love this novel as much as I did. I haven’t read books one and two and yet I was able to read this one just fine. Overall, I highly recommend Sister Eve and the Blue Nun to readers everywhere.

Review:

Big Bad Wolf by Kindra Sowder is the third incredible part to a stunning series. Once again, readers met with the bone chilling yet gorgeous man killer. She sells artwork, by day, and lures men to her bed by night. Using sex as a way to lure men to their final death. Blythe doesn’t just murder them but rip their bodies into bloody parts. Her inner dark side, Miss Hyde. Appearances are definitely deceiving. Just like the two before this one, the plot is full of action, murder, and dark events to come. Blythe will finally get a taste in what she does to men…however, it might just be the last thing she ever experiences. Then, there’s her friend who is more than beats the eye. Also, there’s more mystery added in this part than the previous books. A man who seems to be a boss that hires Blythe’s female friend and wants her alive…who and why…and more importantly what happens next is something I highly recommend readers to read. Kindra Sowder is a talented writer. Her words on every page are powerful enough to suck readers into her fictional world and to leave them forever in suspense. Big Bad Wolf is dark, murderous, and intense. Absolutely, a must read for all.

Just how powerful she will be this time around is something readers have to figure out for themselves. There is only one goal for Robin…defeat Lilith for good. Only time will tell if that happens…Revenge, romance, and action all brilliantly wrapped up in one irresitible novel. Review:

Welcome to the Show by Frank Nappi is a crossover novel that readers worldwide can enjoy. This exciting story is the third novel within the Mickey Tussler series. What really stood out to me inside this tale was that it featured a guy who has autism yet has a knack for being the best pitcher the world of baseball has ever seen. His steady climb to making a life for himself has led him and his family away from a farm that is called home to cities that could be a bit more unwelcoming than originall thought to be. Mickey’s moer struggles with the life the city presents especially when both him and his father leave her when they travel for his baseball stuff. Life isn’t always glorious and easy. There’s plenty of pressure that builds up leaving readers in suspense. Welcome to the Show is definitely a must read forsport fans and for those who love a good story that melts their hearts. The characters and scenes were well-told in way that hooked me in from the beginning to end. Overall, I highly recommend Frank Nappit’s masterfully woven tale to readers everywhere. It’s one readers won’t forget.

Review:

A Thuggish, Ruggish Love 3 by Regina Swanson is superb. Yes, it contains adult content. The sex is steamy hot and everywhere. The attraction among the characters is enough to heat any night. There’s abuse, drama, and romance. The suspense of what is and will happen to Blaze, Xavier, Mackie, and Aleah is stunning. I never knew what to expect. The romance between couples is high and messy. Emotions, as well as hearts, are on the line. Decisions will have to be made. Once again, I found myself deeply lured within Regina Swanson’s brilliant series. A Thuggish, Ruggish Love 3 is perfect. It realistically portrays the urban street life and the hostility between law enforcement and the thugs. Life isn’t all about happily ever afters and starting a family. It’s about finding yourself, being true to yourself and finding a way to survive what one has been dealt with…I enjoyed following the set of interesting characters as well as news ones. The story comes to life with this writer’s talent on every page. Overall, I highly recommend this latest novel by Regina Swanson.

Rating: 5 stars

Review:

Waking Up in Vegas by Sarah King is hot, exciting, and addictive. Talk about sensual, funny, and romantic…Sarah King has brilliantly lured me into her amazing world of fiction. Two characters…both are bold and sexy in their own way. A past of heartbreak may be the one thing stopping a woman from having her second chance at love. The reason why Andrew broke up with Kiera is unknown until the writer let’s readers inside the story. Their past and their present attraction, heat, and chemistry is enough to burn the night away. What turned out to be a week of girls bonding and having soon, turns into a week of hot sex, fun, and an emotional journey that Kiera isn’t sure she wants. But Andrew won’t stop and won’t give up on her…

Waking Up in Vegas is everything I thought it would be plus more. Sarah King knows how to lay on the heat and how to entice her readers’ full attention. The characters alone can suck readers like myself into the plot and lead me feeling like the entire ride was real. Keira and Andrew’s romance past and present was realistic done in way that bonds readers to the overall tale. The emotions sweep readers up off their feet and head on into what lies next…hearts are definitely on the line and how it ends is something readers just have to find out on their own. We all have heard the saying what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas…but with such a magnetic pull between Kiera and Andrew…I doubt the saying applies to them or does it? I absolutely loved reading this spicy romance and I look forward to reading more by Sarah King in the future. Overall, yes, I highly recommend this read to all.

Niveus by Sharon Cramer is beautifully stunning. I have never read such a powerful novel like this one. Love, courage and hope are just a few themes that make this a must read for all. Niveus is a young woman who is a beauty unlike any other woman and is thus feared a bit those around her. She instantly goes to those who are suffering. Niveus can travel realms and has her own powers just like mom has. Niveus is a leading female character that believes whatever fate has dished out then that’s what was meant to be. Niveus goes through a lot of suffering as well…as the evil comes, onto her, taking her for himself and soon his fate will be decided. Niveus has many who would battle their lives to keep her safe, like her brother and the man whom she truly loves. Readers will soon find that Niveus is carrying a secret and the fate of everyone is one that readers must figure out on their own…Sharon Cramer’s talent is obvious as readers turn every page to read the fast-paced yet well-written plot. Review: Katambora Sunset

Synopsis:

In the 1980s, an era of political turmoil sweeps over Africa, offering opportunity for those who can move with the flow—not always for the better. Among those taking advantage of shifting political alliances are international rhino poachers who begin the rapid eradication of one of Africa’s most magnificent animals for their horns, much sought-after ingredients in Chinese and Vietnamese medicine.

Colin and Annika Somerset manage a photo safari operation on behalf of the local BaTonga people in the remote Zambezi valley. The two have dedicated their lives to wildlife conservation, especially rhinos.

Threatening Colin and Annika’s happiness—and very lives—is Justin Charimba, an old enemy who has his own life ambition: the utter destruction of the Somersets.

Now a member of Zimbabwe’s dreaded 5th Brigade, Charimba exerts his influence over a large swath of land, including the Somerset’s Katambora Safari Ranch. He’s ready to move against Colin and Annika, and if he happens to profit from the deaths of their beloved rhinos, well, that makes revenge all the sweeter.

A rousing Southern African adventure novel reminiscent of Wilbur Smith’s early works, Katambora Sunset brings Rory Johnston’s Katambora trilogy to an exciting close.

The Onyx Webb series follows the unusual life of Onyx Webb along with a central group of characters in various locations and times. The billionaire Mulvaney family, piano prodigy Juniper Cole and her brother Quinn, paranormal show hosts Cryer and Fudge, and a few others make up the core of the series. Written like a book version of a supernatural soap opera, each character’s story moves forward with mostly every episode. It may appear that the characters are entirely unrelated and yet episode by episode, the connections will become clearer. Like being an inch away from a spider web, with each book, the web will move further and further away revealing the full story of every character and most importantly, the stunning conclusion for Onyx Webb herself.

Book Review: Jagged Addiction by Lashell Collins

Jagged Addiction (Jagged Ivory Series Book 3)

Jagged Addiction is the third amazing novel in the Jagged Ivory Series by Lashell Collins. Her talent is easily recognizable when you start reading page one of nay of her novels. Each novel contains a special story featured on a selective rock star band mate and the woman that comes crashing into his life. All it takes is for one special woman to tilt the band mate’s world upside down. There is nothing simple about the raw romantic attraction and that deep gut feeling called love. This time, loves comes gently tapping on the shoulder of the jagged Ivory band mates. Can he find his way about or will everything go crazy?

OMG. I cannot stress just how stunning this story is. Lashell Collins has done it again for the third time. Her romance writing is a huge hit. Almost as famous as her characters rock band. Jagged Addiction is just like it sounds. One of the Jagged Ivory band mates is going through a bad time. While on tour he goes into a bathroom and his other mate has to go find help. Soon band mate, Benji Staffon is dying from an over dose until one of his band mates, Noah Ivory, uses CPR to help Benji. Next, the ambulance comes and takes Benji away to a hospital and in the mean time, Noah and the rest were told if that if the CPR wasn’t performed right when Noah did it, that Benji would have died and been lost forever.

Noah and the rest of the team are shocked at the realization and come to a pact to help Benji recover. Benji goes through rehab while his band mates continue to tour. But they are there if Benji needs them. Benji goes through with the fear of almost dying. The has the fear of cleaning up come faster than Benji thinks. Soon he’s released back out of rehab and is worried about all the what-ifs. Will he manage to stay clean? Can he still play? All this goes on while Benji meets his new tech. A tech that happens to be a super hot girl who loves graphic novels and is scared of scary movies. Her life hood when she grew up is similar to that of Benji’s and somehow he feels connected to her. But, what he doesn’t realize is that a recovering addict can still stay clean and fall in love at the same time.

Overall, I highly recommend reading this brilliant series by Lashell Collins. Her novels are a must read for everyone. Book Review: Uncertain Murder by James Litherland

Uncertain Murder (Watchbearers, Book 3)

Uncertain Murder by James Litherland is a stunning and most captivating mystery of them all. His writing lures readers deep into the mystery of one man’s death. A death that was ruled out as a crime. However there are two that believe it was. These two characters are just intriguing as the plot. They are time travelers who are investigating into a man’s death.  Apparently everyone that was there for the man’s death happens to be mentioned in his will. But as these people are being murdered the time travelers will have to race and figure who the killer is before it’s too late for them as well.

Uncertain Murder indeed fits in with the novel’s theme and surrounds readers with uncertainty as a killer is loose and people die. Is it revenge or is it someone eliminating others? A fast-paced story that will keep readers guessing until the end. James Litherland has created a fascinating world with characters that bring unknown possibilities to readers’ minds. A mystery so beautifully put together, readers will be looking for the next book inside this new series by James.  For those love suspense, murder, and a novel with paranormal twists, this is the book for you. I highly recommend this novel to readers everywhere. James Litherland’s writing is a talent most writers wished they had. Overall, I rate Uncertain Murder a five out of five stars.
