Review: No One But You

Synopsis:

New York Times bestselling author Brenda Novak welcomes you to Silver Springs, a picturesque small town in Southern California where even the hardest hearts can learn to love again…
Struggling to make ends meet after a messy divorce, Sadie Harris is at the end of her tether. Her waitressing gig isn’t enough to pay the bills let alone secure primary custody of her son, Jayden, a battle she refuses to lose. Desperate, she accepts a position assisting Dawson Reed—the same Dawson Reed who recently stood trial for the murder of his adoptive parents. Joining him at his isolated farm seems risky, but Sadie is out of options.
Dawson has given small town Silver Springs plenty of reasons to be wary, but he’s innocent of the charges against him. He wants to leave his painful past behind and fix up the family farm so he can finally bring his dependent sister home where she belongs.
As Sadie and Dawson’s professional relationship grows into something undeniably personal, Sadie realizes there’s more to Dawson than the bad boy everyone else sees—he has a good heart, one that might even be worth fighting for.

Review:

Brenda Novak is one of my favorite writers. Her work is amazing. Each book has a unique story that grabs my heart. This latest novel, No One But You, is part of a new series. Inside, readers will find that it houses many themes. Ranging from marital problems to domestic violence. Plus, a character has been arrested for a crime he didn’t commit. As readers dig further they’ll find demons everywhere. A town so ready to torture an innocent man, another man who is violent to his wife, and a mother trying to survive…

No One But You pulls at the heart. Sent me on an epic emotional journey. One that I won’t ever forget. The charcaters were believable. As for the plot, it was a bit slow in the begging then sped up as the action took over. Dangerous, intriguing, and a bit sad. Brenda Novak creates another opportunity for readers to explore real world issues in a fictional setting. Brilliant and well-told. I recommend this new novel to all.

Review: Finding Our Forever

New York Times bestselling author Brenda Novak welcomes readers to the town of Silver Springs, where surprises wait around every corner!
The search for her birth mother brought Cora Kelly to the New Horizons Boys Ranch. Getting a job there was easy enough, but confiding in Aiyana, the ranch’s owner, that she’s really her daughter? Cora’s not sure she can do that, not unless she’s confident the news will be welcomed. And once she gets to know Elijah Turner, Aiyana’s adopted son and ranch manager, that decision becomes even more difficult.
Although Elijah can’t deny his deep attraction to Cora, he’s always struggled with trust. Anyone with his past would, and there’s something about the ranch’s newest employee that isn’t exactly as it seems. But if the feelings she awakes in his guarded heart are any indication, she might be just what he’s long been waiting for.

Review:

Finding Our Forever by Brenda Novak is the beginning to a new series. Talk about a starter…this novella is packed full of emotional journeys. In this tale, I met a young woman who was adopted. Luckily for her, her adoptive mother and father were good people. That doesn’t happen much for orphans. Yet, Cora lucked out and she’s about to luck out further. Cora is a twenty-eight year old woman who hired an investigation into who her birth mom was and where she could find her. Finally, she has her answers. Little did she know that she would not only met her mom but her future husband, too. I was ecstatic. Neverous, happy, and sad. The intensity of the story kept building up to where it could end badly…I wasn’t sure which way the news would swing.

Brenda Novak has once more impressed me with her writing. This writer is a pro at coming up with plots that are engaging. From the beginning to end, I was tailing after Cora every second. Left in suspense as to what will happen next and what Cora might decide to do. I was happy to have read this new novella by Brenda Novak. She truly, knows what her readers want and expect. I have read many of her books….and I love them all. There’s always some form of an emotional attachment that has me connecting immediately with the main charcaters. There’s either a dilemma that has me on edge of my seat guessing or a romance that has me hooked. Either way, I’m always left feeling satisfied having read each of her works. Finding Our Forever had a theme of adoption and family. I thought it was brilliant. A believable tale with all its craziness just like the real world brings. Overall, I highly recommend this book to readers worldwide.

Review: White Heat

Synopsis:

A dangerous cult has recently taken over the desert ghost town of Paradise, Arizona. Members worship at the feet—and in the bed—of its charismatic leader, Ethan Wycliff, and obey his orders blindly. They’ve already tried to murder one woman and they’re implicated in the disappearance of another.
Nate Ferrentino, who works for private security contractor Department 6, has been assigned to infiltrate this group. It’s a challenge he welcomes—until he learns that colleague Rachel Jessop will be going undercover with him. Thanks to their shared history, he’d much rather go alone….
The problem is, only married couples can participate in cult rituals. So, like it or not—and they don’t—Rachel and Nate must pretend to be husband and wife.
There’s no choice. Because if Wycliff isn’t exposed, if he isn’t stopped, more people will die. And Rachel might be one of them.

Review

White Heat by Brenda Novak is an intense yet stunning FBI read. Two FBI agents have to go undercover to catch the bad guy(s). Nate was the guy the wouldn’t let loose…and Rachel is the FBI agent who is beautiful as she is smart. She thought Nate liked her…so, she goes to surprise him…in the way most men wished. But it turns out that was ruined. Nate handled that situation horribly. Seeing Rachel there waiting for him, had him set on fire. But she’s a fellow co-worker. Rachel however feels hurt, embraased and ready to move forward from that situation. But a part of her still yearns for Nate. And Nate can’t stop his feelings toward her…especially now, with a new job where both have to be in close quarters as husband and wife. Rachel takes the drastic measures to get inside the compound they are needing to get into…but the danger is one neither could have imagined. Hearts, lives, and and their jobs are on the line. I loved following both charcaters as the tale unfolded. The heat was hot enough to light a forrest on fire. The suspense made me sit on the edge of my chair waiting as the intensity grew with every passing page. Fast-paced, thrilling and engaging to read. Overall, I highly recommend White Heat to readers everywhere.

Review: The Secret Sister

The Secret Sister (Fairham Island, #1)

Synopsis:

Did she once have a sister? Has her mother lied all these years? Why?

After a painful divorce, Maisey Lazarow returns to Fairham, the small island off the North Carolina coast where she grew up. She goes there to heal—and to help her brother, Keith, a deeply troubled man who’s asked her to come home. But she refuses to stay in the family house. The last person she wants to see is the wealthy, controlling mother she escaped years ago.

Instead, she finds herself living next door to someone else she’d prefer to avoid—Rafe Romero, the wild, reckless boy to whom she lost her virginity at sixteen. He’s back on the island, and to her surprise, he’s raising a young daughter alone. Maisey’s still attracted to him, but her heart’s too broken to risk…

Then something even more disturbing happens. She discovers a box of photographs that evoke distant memories of a little girl, a child Keith remembers, too. Maisey believes the girl must’ve been their sister, but their mother claims there was no sister.

Maisey’s convinced that child existed. So where is she now?

Review:

The Secret Sister by Brenda Novak is indeed the best romantic thriller I have read. Readers will be taken deep into the main characters’ past. Secrets that have been hidden forever come out and those that were blamed are innocent. A hot steamy novel that will lure readers in further with each passing page. I loved reading this story. Brenda Novak has a raw talent in bringing her novels to life. I have read every novel by Brenda but this one is the most stunning of her creations. Realistic, suspenseful, and an edge of your seat romance that will have readers coming back for more.

Brenda Novak’s debut novel, The Secret Sister, is one that I highly recommend to readers worldwide. A family so torn apart are trying to unite and fix what troubles them. However, it will be dangerous in stirring up a bee’s nest after so many years of the accident. A sister who was pushed off a cliff, a brother who is an addict and blames himself, and another sister who is divorced and wants answers. But that isn’t all. Maisey is determined to find the answers and another part of her past came out to tease her. Rafe was the older guy every girl talked about and the only one that Maisey spent her first time with. Now back home, Maisey meets Rafe again and their passion burns hotter than coals. Can Maisey have love and help her family? Overall, I rate this novel a five out of five stars.

Review:

Her Darkest Nightmare by Brenda Novak is brilliantly well-written. With this talented writer, I have yet to see a poorly written and undeveloped book. Each of her novels, is better than the one before it. It is amazing what Brenda Novak conjures in each tale. This latest novel is a romantic suspense read that will have readers hooked from beginning to end. The fear is overwhelming. I could feel the raw tensions caused by both they work that the main character does and the romance that stirs between her and the police officer. The attraction is mutual. However, the issue lies with the female doctor who can’t forget the past and embrace her life. Or embraced what her life could be like if she would just let go of her nightmare.

Brenda Novak introduced us readers to a prison where a bunch of doctors wanted to analyze the psychopaths that kill and torture others. They hoped that this facility will give them the research they need to see what causes the killers to do what they do. Their goal was to find out what makes them kill and why in a false hope that they can save people. Monsters housed in one building that has top security. Yet one lady never made it to the facility to work on time…then there’s the sexy police officer who found a woman’s head all bashed in a way that no one could recognize her. He immediately laid the blame on the Hangover House aka prison full of psychopathic killers. But could the killer really be a loose prisoner or someone else that the doctor might know? The suspense as always left me hanging. I was eager to know who died and who the killer is, plus, I wanted to see what lied in the future for the two main characters. Then there’s the doctor who was tormented by her boyfriend. Raped and left for dead…yet somehow she made it through and worked her way to becoming a specialist that works in analyzing men aka killers like her boyfriend. Even though she spent years in therapy, she still can’t let go of the danger that’s bound her in like the prisoners around her. Intriguing, sexy, and phenomenal. Brenda Novak’s new novel, Her Darkest Nightmare, will have left her readers sweating in fear. Overall, I highly recommend this compelling read to all.

Review: The Secrets She Kept

Synopsis:

The rich and powerful Josephine Lazarow, matriarch of Fairham Island, is dead. The police say it’s suicide, but Keith, her estranged son, doesn’t believe it.

Keith bears scars—both physical and emotional—from his childhood, but he’s worked hard to overcome the past. After walking away from his mother and her controlling ways five years ago, he’s built a new life in LA. He’s also accumulated a fortune of his own. But as soon as he learns of his mother’s death, he returns to Fairham. He feels he owes it to his grandfather to put the family empire together again—and he’s determined to find his mother’s killer.

Problem is…coming home to Fairham puts him back in contact with Nancy Dellinger, the woman he hurt so badly when he left before. And digging that deep into his mother’s final days and hours entails a very real risk.

Because the person who killed her could be someone he loves…

Rating: 5 stars

Review:

The Secrets She Kept is the sequel to The Secret Sister by Brenda Novak.  This story continues with a twist the characters didn’t see coming and one that will keep readers intrigued until the very last page. Suspenseful, engaging, and emotional. A journey unlike any other. Family can be so many things. Secrets, hurt, and damaged relationships are all woven beautifully, inside the tale.

The Secrets She Kept is about a controlling mother who ruled like a dictator is now found dead. Her housekeeper found her in a tub with light candles. This was definitely something the mother wouldn’t do especially with her schedule. The situation raises more questions than answers for her children. Once more readers will meet the troubled brother, Keith who believes his mother was killed not suicidal. Then there’s Maisey the sister who, like Keith think it’s more than what the police say it is. But if it is not what it looks than who could possibly be the murderer? Then there’s the other sister whom they  found and now they have to live with their mother’s death. Just as things were looking up for all three siblings…life went and took the rug from under their feet. There’s danger, mystery, and romance for all to enjoy. Brenda Novak has once more brought another great masterpiece to her readers. I was thoroughly impressed with her writing style. Tragedy, love, and abuse. This is definitely a novel worthy of every reader’s attention. So many issues at hand were mentioned. They are brilliantly put together to create a compelling story.  Overall, I highly recommend The Secrets She Kept by Brenda Novak. I absolutely love this writer’s tales. Never disappoints her readers.

Brenda Novak is definitely one of my favorite all-time romance authors. Her novels speak for themselves…the characters’ and their dilemmas pack  enough action, romance, and intrigue. I have always found myself lost inside the beautiful world of fiction and in this newest world by Brenda Novak, I couldn’t resist. The temptation to read more by her is a need that needs to be constantly re-supplied. I have heard so much about this new novel, Discovering You, in newsletters and everywhere else on the web. Now, after having read the entire book in print form…I have to say I loved it. As always, Brenda Novak, doesn’t ever disappoint.

Discovering You is all about the bad boy theme that is hot and irresistible. A young woman has made past mistakes with hanging in the wrong crowd. What she doesn’t know is that it will come back to destroy her happily ever. A family of three is now a family of just two. Mother and daughter must now leave and make a home for themselves far away where they will be safe. But is safety from a dangerous ex who has been let loose going to work? This danger plus the fear of losing her daughter to her in-laws and the romantic chemistry she feels from her next door bad boy is leaving India feeling torn and worn out…it’s only a matter of time until she’s got full blown into danger and love. Book Review: Coulda Been a Cowboy

Brenda Novak’s novel, Coulda Been a Cowboy is a stunning and interesting read. Just like all of her other best selling novels, she has a well written plot with believeable characters. This novel, is heart warming and tears at your heart in all the good ways. Tyson Garnier a former pro football player, who faces a huge scandal. One that is denting his career. But he also has a son.Tyson needs to hire a nanny for his boy. And there’s one woman up for the job. Dakota Brown, is a plain, no nonsense type of woman. She doesn’t care a thing about Tyson, but she needs the job and his son needs her too. The problem is that the more Tyson sees Dakota and sees her with his son, the more he doesn’t want to let go of her. But what are Dakota’s feelings? Does she too want Tyson and his son? Or will she leave them both behind?

Brenda Novak has done it again. Leaving her readers with a beautifully written romance. One that mentions family and life’s tough choices that complicate our lives. But in this incredible book, the only thing that is more complicated than Tyson’s scandal and career problems, would be the fact that he’s falling in love with his son’s nanny. I loved reading this novel! I was hooked from the beginning until the very end. For those who enjoy books by contemporary novelists such as Jill Sanders and Sheryll Wood, then this is the one book you will want to pick up!
