Review: Cross Breed by Lora Leigh

Synopsis:

Fans of #1 New York Times bestselling author Lora Leigh’s scorching Breed series first met Cassie as a little girl in Elizabeth’s Wolf. Now Cassie has finally come into her own as a young woman, and she’s about to discover the one she is destined for–but it is unclear whether her fate is to be mated for life, or marked for death…

The Breeds are humans altered before conception with the DNA of the predators of the earth. But although they all carry the genetic material of beasts within them, Cassandra Sinclair stands apart. A unique mix of wolf, coyote and human, she is revered by many–but preyed upon by others. She is fiercely protected by her community…but no one manages to stop her when she slips away one day to offer her body in exchange for her sister’s safety.

The man she succumbs to surprises her by unleashing her inner animal in ways she never dreamed possible–and provokes her deep, furious rage. To Cassie’s shock, he is the mate she has long awaited. She may never be able to forgive his deception. Still, as dangerous enemies track her, and as the threat of all-out war between Breeds and the humans who despise them hovers in the air, they must join forces and hold fast to each other.

But the passionate union between them holds a potential that could change the world–and some will do anything to stop it…

Review:

Cross Breed by Lora Leigh is an intense paranormal romance tale. I was sucked into the whole Breed and Human world. Scientists took children away from their families only to use their embryos for creating half humans and half animals. Taking sperm from coyotes and wolves the government thought they could create an army to use as a weapon against others. Only it backfired on them in ways they did not expect. Eventually, enough human families had missing family members used and killed for these experimentations. The offspring were not looked at as monsters by the majority of the humans. But that did not mean that others were not disgusted with the Breeds and hybrids.

A young woman, Cassie, is overpowered by the feelings of lust and lack of fear towards a man who first aimed to kill her. He knew she was his mate when he saw her at eighteen. But he never went to claim her until 6-years later. One challenge between, and a night of exotic passion lead to distrust and anger. No matter the danger towards them both, their mating heat keeps increasing and only they can help each other survive its brutal wave.

Dog, aka Cain, is a coyote Breed. But he lets the council who created him think he’s undercover for them. Dog wants to get the info to take them out and destroy them. The council are the ones responsible for creating the Breeds and Hybrids like himself. Anger and loss is all Dog knew until his mate. Cassie gives him hope and tears his world upside down…but he’ll do everything in his power to keep her alive and with him.

Lora Leigh created a world full of drama, risks, and heat. I felt the instant attraction between both protagonists. They reeled me in deep. The plot is full of adult language from time to time, some fighting but not graphic, and a little bit of BDSM is inside the sex scenes. I recommend this paranormal romance to all adults.

Review: Death Doesn’t Bargain by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Synopsis:

Death Doesn’t Bargain is the second historical fantasy title in New York Times bestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Deadman’s Cross series. Where Deadmen tell their tales, and every soul is damned or redeemed by the final choices they make.

The Deadmen are back…

But so are the demons who have broken free of their eternal prison and are bent on mankind’s destruction. The worst of the lot is Vine, determined to claim their lives for taking hers. She will see the world burn…and has the perfect lure to destroy them all. One of their own.

Kalder Dupree has never known a day of mercy. Born to the cruelest of mer-races, he sacrificed himself for his crew and is in Vine’s hands. He expects no mercy or rescue.

Yet Cameron Jack is determined to set Kalder free. As a Hellchaser, it’s her calling, and she cannot allow even a not-so-innocent to be tortured for an act of kindness that spared her damnation.

To defeat evil, it sometimes takes an even worse evil, and Cameron is willing to do whatever she must to make this right. If Vine thought she had her hands full before, she hasn’t seen anything nearly as powerful as Cameron’s resolve.

Review:

Death Doesn’t Bargain by Sherrilyn Kenyon is one amazing read. This romantic fantasy has all kinds of creatures for characters. Each one has its own story with choices made or to be made.

Kalder Dupree sacrificed himself for others. He’s suffering in hell because of that choice and yet he still fights with everything he has. Kalder’s life was never easy. So much loss, grief, and trouble inside of it…it made me wonder how he survived thus far. But his journey isn’t over yet…

Cameron Jack is a female not to mess with…her determination and strength make her a good protagonist. She’s a strong female who knows what she wants. That want is to free Kalder. His sacrifice helped her. Now, she wants to return the favor. Their journey is just beginning…

Danger, mystery, and a lot of action are found inside Death Doesn’t Bargain. The whole story had a way of captivating my full-attention. There were so many sides to fight that it was interesting. I was not sure which side would do what or when. The suspense and intrigue was on high volume. The ending…I liked it a lot but now, I cannot wait to get my hands on the next title. Sherrilyn Kenyon definitely knows how to enchant readers, lie myself. Dragging me deeper into her world of fantasy. Overall, I highly recommend this novel to all.

Review: Vampire, Interrupted (book 9)

Synopsis:

After seven hundred years of life, Marguerite Argeneau finally has a career. Well, the start of one, anyway. She’s training to be a private investigator, and her first assignment is to find an immortal’s mother. It seemed simple enough, until Marguerite wakes up one evening to find herself at the wrong end of a sword. Now she realizes she’s in way over her head.

Julius Notte wants to protect Marguerite, and not because someone just tried to take her head off. She doesn’t know it yet, but she’s his lifemate and he’s determined to woo her. It’s been over five hundred years since he last courted a woman, but surely the techniques haven’t changed. Now if only he can keep her alive—so to speak—so they can have that happily-ever-after.

Review:

Funny, contagious, and exciting!

Vampire, Interrupted by Lynsay Sands is the 9th book in this exciting series. This time, the nosy matchmaking mom/aunt vampire ends up having her past life told and explored. A former lover finds her. From there it’s all mystery, suspense, heat, and conflict. I was hooked. Not as much humor as the previous books. But it was still just as sexy. I loved the female vampire. She is so kind and caring, it was nice to see her suffer with a relationship the same way her kids and nieces and nephews suffered. Payback time! Overall, I love a paranormal romance that sends me spinning fast into its juicy plot.

Review: Tall, Dark, & Hungry (book 4)

Synopsis:

The taste of temptation…

Terri had flown from England to help plan her cousin’s wedding, but paying for a New York hotel room was like giving blood! She had an alternative: the new in-laws were offering lodging.

Of course, the Argeneaus were a certifiably odd bunch. There was the sometimes chipper, sometimes brooding Lucern – a “vampire romance” writer. There was the wacky stage actor, Vincent. She couldn’t imagine Broadway casting a more ravenous singing-and-dancing Dracula. And then there was Bastien. Of this unique cast of characters, he seemed the tallest, darkest and hungriest – and his effect on Terri was decidedly delicious. Just looking into his eyes made her want to serve up her innocence on a silver platter. And she had a feeling the love feast was about to begin.

Review:

Sweet, sexy, and funny…

Tall, Dark, & Hungry by Lynsay Sands is the fourth adventure in this exciting series. The vampires are amazing. Bastien is the one everyone goes to. Especially, when they have problems or need more bags of blood. Bastien’s brother is getting married and he’s starting to feel a bit lonely. Then, his brother forces him to tackle wedding stuff along with maid of honor. Bastien won’t know what hit him, once she enters into his life. I laughed so hard and fell just as hard for these incredible life-like characters. The plot had me hooked from the beginning. I can’t wait to read the next sexy installment. Overall, I recommend this vampire novel to all.

Review: The Accidential Vampire (book 7)

Synopsis:

Ever since an accident turned her into a knockout vamp, Elvi Black’s been catching her z’s in a coffin, staying out of the sun, and giving up garlic. She knows there’s more to being undead than what she saw in Dracula, but she can’t very well ask her mortal friends about proper biting etiquette. But when her neighbors placed a personal ad for her in the local paper, she never imagined she’d meet Victor Argeneau, a vampire who could have his pick of any woman… dead or alive.

Rich, powerful, and drop-dead gorgeous, Victor’s the perfect man for a novice neck-biter like Elvi. He’s willing to teach her everything he knows, but he’ll have to do it fast. Someone’s out to put a stake through her new vamp life, and only Victor can keep her safe and satisfied for all eternity.

Review:

Fast, funny, and sexy…

The Accidental Vampire by Lynsay Sands is the seventh amazing adventure in this hot series. I cannot stop reading about these characters. They feel real. Quirky, funny, and they are easy to relate to. I love how they struggle with the same issues the rest of us in the real world do. That just made me love this plot even more. I laughed so hard, I cried. The emotional journey was crazy. The ending was my most favorite. Read the book, and I guarantee you will see why the ending was the best part. I couldn’t stop laughing! Overall, I recommend this paranormal romance to all.

Review: A Bite to Remember

Synopsis:

Rule #1: Never get involved with someone who won’t be there for you when the sun comes up.
Once bitten, twice shy, and sexy PI Jackie Morrisey wasn’t going there again. Vincent Argeneau may be the hottest guy she’s ever met, living or dead, but she’s here to stop a killer from turning this vampire into dust, not to jump into bed with him.

Rule #2: Never kiss a vampire…it can be a pain in the neck.

Okay, so Vincent’s had four hundred years to perfect his kissing skills, and he does look rather tempting when he runs around the house shirtless. He’s also charming, protective…did we mention he can kiss?

Jackie needs to be on her guard, or else she’ll have to come up with a new rule:
If you’re going to fall in love with a vampire, make sure it’s a bite to remember.

Rating: 5-stars

Review:

Heartfelt, exciting, and sexy as hell…

A Bite to Remember by Lynsay Sands is the fifth book in this exciting series. Vampires are one of my most favorite paranormal stories to read about…there are so many twists and turns. With the amount of vampire novels out there, it should be a dull subject. Yet, Lynsay Sands makes reading about vampires the most entertaining thing I have ever read. I laughed so hard, I swear my family looks at me like I’m crazy. I fall hard for the characters. Oh my gosh, Vincent is the featured vampire alpha male in this story. He has been sort of fading away from everything. Everything in life has grown boring for him. After spending hundreds of years looking for a life mate, Vincent gave up…until a particular sassy human female enters into his life. His cousin sends a female detective to take care of whoever is threatening Vincent. He appears sexist at first but then just goes with it. He grew up in a time when men rule the world. However, he comes to respect Jackie. Jackie took over her father’s business. But there’s a bump in her past that makes her act bitchy towards Vincent. Vincent is the kindest vampire in the world…and Jackie will eventually fall for him. But will Vincent fall for her? Plus, there’s the mystery and suspense of who is behind all of the sabotage and murders…overall, I would highly recommend this book to readers everywhere. I couldn’t stop reading it.

Review: A Quick Bite

Synopsis:

That hot guy tied to Lissianna Argeneau’s bed? He’s not dessert – he’s the main course!

Lissianna has been spending her centuries pining for Mr. Right, not just a quick snack, and this sexy guy she finds in her bed looks like he might be a candidate. But there’s another, more pressing issue: her tendency to faint at the sight of blood…an especially annoying quirk for a vampire. Of course it doesn’t hurt that this man has a delicious-looking neck. What kind of cold-blooded vampire woman could resist a bite of that?

Dr. Gregory Hewitt recovers from the shock of waking up in a stranger’s bedroom pretty quickly – once he sees a gorgeous woman about to treat him to a wild night of passion. But is it possible for the good doctor to find true love with a vampire vixen, or will he be just a good meal? That’s a question Dr. Greg might be willing to sink his teeth into…if he can just get Lissianna to bite.

Review:

Sexy, intriguing, and overall exciting to read…

A Quick Bite by Lynsay Sands introduces me to the Argeneau Vampire series. This first book, gives me everything I want in a romance novel plus some. Interesting characters both immortal and mortal alike. The main protagonists have challenges ahead of them that were fun to follow. I am hooked. Smart yet caring vampire meets sexy human psychologist. The twists and turns kept me turning the pages. I am in love. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series as well as the rest. Overall, I recommend this paranormal romance to all readers.

Review: Murder on the Sugarland Express

Synopsis:

The latest from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Angie Fox…

Ghost hunter Verity Long is overdue for a little R&R (rest and romance) with her boyfriend, Ellis, and a vintage train trip through the Tennessee mountains seems like just the ticket. The Sugarland Express carries history and nostalgia in every compartment, and Verity is determined to enjoy it—without ghostly interference. But the ghosts have other plans…

On a dark, desolate night nearly a century ago, the train was stranded in the mountains, and a young woman was found stabbed to death in her locked compartment. The murder was never solved, and a ghostly Belgian detective is still pursuing the case from the grave.

To Verity’s dismay, all of the ghostly suspects are back. And when history repeats itself and a new murder mirrors the old, it’s up to Verity and her friends to discover which of the passengers—dead or alive—could be behind the murders before the killer strikes again.

Rating: 5-stars

Review:

Murder on the Sugarland Express by Angie Fox is amazing. Her main protagonist, Verity, is a ghost hunter. She helps the ghosts she sees and helps them move into the light. Then, there’s the gangster ghost, Frankie, who is attached to the urn that she possesses. Wherever she goes with the urn, Frankie goes to…

Verity and her boyfriend, Ellis, want to escape their town and have a romantic getaway. However, Frankie convinces Verity to let him tag along so he could seduce his lady ghost friend. Then, there’s the other ghosts she meets while on the train. The train they’re on, is new except for the bell that was rummaged from the original Sugarland Express train. That train had several mishaps, like murder and taking all of its passengers down into the river…so many died that day. Now, with the original bell attached to the new Sugarland Express train, the ghosts are being called back to the living world. There, Verity, Ellis, and Frankie will have their hands full trying to solve the past and current murders. Plus, if they’re not fast enough, they may all die in a train wreck…

Angie Fox sure knows how to engage readers like myself. I was hooked. The plot kept me guessing, laughing, and rooting for Verity and Frankie. Ellis was a major help in solving the murders too. Being a cop, Ellis, is always answering his calling. The romance between Ellis and Verity felt real. I love this couple. No matter what happens they stick through it. Overall, I highly recommend this paranormal romance mystery to all.

Review: The Warrior Vampire

Synopsis:

The vampire was built for sin, every inch of him tight and bulky with corded muscle. A killer, that much was apparent, and she couldn’t help but wonder if his appetite for violence would rival his appetites for other…things.

A WOMAN SEDUCED
Naya Morales is no ordinary mortal. Born with a shaman’s power, she has devoted her life to tracking down stolen magic-and punishing those who take it. But one fateful night, she follows the alluring call of a sensual magic that is too glorious to be true-and finds herself face to face with a stunningly handsome thief who is too magnificent to resist…

A VAMPIRE ENSLAVED
From the moment he sees her, Ronan knows Naya is his mate. Driven by a deep, almost mystical connection, he aches for her body, hungers for her blood, and swears their souls are anchored together. Naya refuses to believe the words of a vampire-or risk the wrath of her tribe. But when she tries to make Ronan her prisoner, neither chains of silver nor fires of hell can help her escape the truth: she is the one who’s been captured, in The Warrior Vampire by Kate Baxter.

My Rating: 5 stars

My Review:

The Warrior Vampire is a hot and exciting read. The chemistry between two mates is like fire. It engulfs readers from head to toe. The characters heat up the pages keeping readers glued into the story. Danger is lurking around and Ronan has to find a way to convince Naya that she’s his and only his. I love the passion and the strong characters that Kate Baxter has masterfully created. Readers will fall in love from the beginning and will be begging for more books by this brilliant writer. I love hot sexy alpha males who can’t take a no and keep on pursuing their woman until she says yes. The great thing about that is that the females are always a perfect match for their males just like Naya and Ronan are together. Strong, brave, and smart. Neither character will let readers down.  Their playful banter and cat and mouse games, of ignoring their chemistry, is funny and sweet. Kate Baxter gives her readers a sexy novel that will forever entice them. Unforgettable characters and a suspenseful plot make for one stunning novel. Overall, I highly recommend this paranormal romance to readers worldwide. The Warrior Vampire by Kate Baxter is definitely a must read for all.

Book Review: Lunar Rampage by Samantha Cross

Lunar Rampage

Lunar Rampage by Samantha Cross is one hell of a suspenseful novel that readers will come to love forever. A paranormal romance that won’t be forgotten. Samantha’s plot drives readers into intrigue from the first page and until the last. Beware readers, you will fall deep in love with the funny and intoxicating read. I was hooked and kept in suspense on every page that I read. A real page turner. And one that will leave readers wondering what happens next. A super great cliffhanger at the end will keep readers coming back looking for the next novel in this exciting and well written series. I can’t wait to read the second novel by this talented writer whose words literally pop off the pages and keep you laughing so hard.

The characters are nothing like you expect. But soon, she will learn about the mysterious events that took place without the town noticing until recently when attacks on many innocent lives occurs and with her own investigating and close encounter with death, she will find that the answers are not what she wanted to know or see at all.

Book Review: Christmas with a Bite by Patricia A. Wolfe

Christmas with a Bite is a novel that readers must pick up. The enchanting romance story will make readers laugh, and cry. Following both Maria and Connor as the novel plot thickens is incredible. I couldn’t believe how a paranormal romance novel could be turned into such a realistic and believable romance that entices its readers with every page. I loved how Patricia Wolfe created such raw yet strong emotions for Maria’s character. I enjoyed reading the hot sexy scenes as well as the fear coming off Connor as he worries about his parents hurting Maria. Will Connor, a vampire, be able to make Maria as his own? Or will Maria think him a monster and leave his heart broken? Will Conor’s parents accept Maria as his love or will they destroy the only thing that ever matters to him? Can Maria, a human being,  fall in love with Connor and accept him for what he is? I strongly encourage every reader to read this sexy as hell novel. Trust me you will fall in love with both Maria and Connor’s story. Overall, I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

Questions with Author Ilona Andrews

Can you briefly tell us readers what you new upcoming novel is about without spoiling it or us? Can you tell us readers about any future projects that you are currently working on? What inspired you to become an author? And why? How did you come about choosing to write paranormal romance novels? What book(s) excluding your own, would you say are your favorite to read and why?

The novel is about what happens when you let an elite group of people have incredible power. 🙂 Let me point you to our series website. We broke down magic system and Houses and all the cool bells and whistles. http://hiddenlegacy.ilona-andrews.com/

Currently we are working on the next book in Kate Daniels series, which is titled Magic Shifts.

I wasn’t inspired to become an author. I simply wrote because I wanted to get the stories out of my head. It’s a kind of compulsion that I don’t fully understand to this day.

As well, I didn’t really sit down and say, “I want to write paranormal romance or urban fanasty.” I kind of just write things down and worry about how to classify them later.

My favorite reads change. Right now I am really enjoying Jeaniene Frost, Jack Campbell, and Terry Pratchett. They make me forget to edit while I read. 😀

What would say are the most important skills for a writer in your profession? Which part of creating a novel would you say is the hardest? The plot? The characters? Extending the novel outline? Or writing dialogue?

The most important skill for a writer is to be a good reader.

The beginning is the hardest. Everything follows it. We often rewrite the beginnings after the first draft is done. As far as individual elements of the novel, we don’t really look at them as separate. That’s something that is usually a function of critique. All those things you mentioned blends together into a story when we are writing and the story either works or it doesn’t.

Ms. Andrews, can you tell us readers what it was like during your first year as a bestselling author? What is your advice to those pursuing to become paranormal romance authors? What is your schedule like as a bestselling author? Can you tell us readers, which one of your characters from your upcoming novel, Burn For Me, was your favorite one to write and why? Which one was your hardest character to write and why?

We broke NYT extended with our second book, and at that time we still had our day jobs. That year was a little bit difficult because we both worked, helped with homework, made dinner, etc, and then after everything, we wrote a couple of hours a night.

My advice would be not let this business make you crazy. It pushes you very hard toward becoming neurotic. Authors tend to be control freaks and once that contract is signed, you control very little. But before there can be a contract, you have to learn to perfect you craft and not settle for good enough. You have to learn to push yourself to give each story your personal best. Some might be better stories, some worse, but I think if you commit completely and do your absolute best each time, eventually it will pay off.

I liked writing Nevada and Rogan the best. They are hilarious together.

The hardest character? Probably Nevada and Rogan. We had to get them right.

Book Review: Predator and Prey Book #2 by James D. Horton

Book Review: The Vampire Next Door by Ashlyn Chase

The Vampire Next Door is an astounding novel. The characters will leave you laughing as it unfolds. The plot is well written in a hot, sensual, exciting way. Readers will love Sly Flores, a vampire, who only goes after the bad guys. Sly keeps the neighborhoods safe by satisfying his appetite from the evil ones. The story is about a witch name Morgaine. She lives upstairs from Sly. Sly tries to deny his attraction towards Morgaine. Even with the character being a vampire and a witch, readers can easily connect with them. The way they act around each other will send you falling head over heels in love. The scenes are sweet, funny, and adorable. Take out the paranormal and you have a realistic story about two lovers who try but fail at denying their love. I loved reading this book from the first page until the end. Their was one scene, where Sly accidentally bit a bad guy’s silver necklace. This caused his fangs to stay out and caused him pain. He goes to see Morgaine. She is a healing witch. While Morgaine is checking his fangs and gum, Sly’s thoughts automatically go towards kissing Morgaine. Half-way into his fantasy about her, he shakes his heads after he realizes what he’s thinking about. Morgaine then chooses that moment to make him a healing salve. Ashlyn Chase is a very talented writer. She knows how to use humor and interweave it into her beautifully written romance novel.  I loved it. I look forward to reading her other two books as well. Those looking for a paranormal romance with a unique twist and humor, then this is the book for you! I highly recommend  readers to read this story. I promise you will be hooked from beginning to end.

But when sent to kill the female hybrid, the male breed can’t commit to it. She has an effect on him. He can’t let her go. Together they must face their enemies. But will they survive? But there was the fact that if he didn’t take over soon all peace and order between humans and vampires would be destroyed by those who only wanted power and make humans suffer. Matthew was out exploring the world. So far, he has been to Paris, Rome, Eygpt and New York. Now he is enjoying himself in Flordia. The Atlantic Beach was just what he needed before heading back home. Taking over as king of the vampire race. His father would be happy and proud once he took over his rightful place.

Chapter One

Walking along the shoreline in nothing but his swim trunks, Matthew enjoyed the sensations of the waves crashing about his feet. And the wet sand sinkning beneath his bare feet with every step. The sun’s warmth beating down on his bare chest show casing his perfectly ripped abs. Until far away along the shoreline did he hear a young female’s voice in distress and two male voices. Voices he immediatley recognized from the clan of vampires that resist everythin his father, Count Dracula had established for the enitre vampire race to live peacefully among humans. Matthew’s protective instincts for the unknown woman had him using his every once of speed he could muster to resuce her in time. Hopefully he wasn’t too late. As soon as he got there he shoved the two meancing vampires away from the human. Dodging the two vampires every move and bout to kill them both right there, but couldn’t do it in front of a human as to let known that vampires really exist he decided to threaten to kill them as soon as he sees them again and wont hesitate. Matthew sensing the woman’s pain and the smell of her blood tosses the vampires as far away as possible watching them scurring away. Rushing to her side he heals her gashing wound and all pain instantly leaving her. Seeing what those bastards did to this woman left Matthew wanting to go after them now and finish his threat to kill them both. Feeling her emotions flooding through her, Matthew wasn’t sure what to do or say next. Withering in pain and bleeding way too much Melanie knew she didn’t have a chance at defending herself against the two men. Actually she wasn’t sure what the heck they were. All she knew was that they have been following her every where and harassing her for a reason she didn’t know. Now they have followed her here to the beach where it was secluded and no one to hear her scream with the ocean’s waves splatering noise covering her own. Bleeding and soaring pain from where they atacked her all she could do was watch as a man came rushing out of no where to defend her. To Melanie’s surprise the man was very capable of holding his own against the two bastards. Whatever they were. She didn’t care, plus she had a bigger problem on hand. Trying to stop the bleeding and pain that was non stop. Next thing Melanie knows is that the handsome stranger was bending down taking hold of her arm and using his hand uttered some foriegn words. Instantly the pain in her arm stopped and the bleeding gone along with any trace of her wounds. Feeling completely relieved and happy to be alive to survive another day so many thoughts flooding her mind making her feel dazed with all the questions, Manie looks up into the face of her rescuer. Matthew gazing into the woman’s eyes senses her fear and gratitude. Not knowin what else to do he helps her up and tells her to come with him. Stunned Melanie doesn’t hesitate in following Matthew’s order. Taking her into the city at a local resturaunt that wasn’t busy and taking the fartherst both he and Melanie sit down. Melanie feeling relieved and calmer now because her rescuer took her somewhere popular and public felt a lot safer being with him.Ordering Melanie a huge dinner told her to eat because it will help her heal more if she ate.

Writing Challenge #5-2 YA Paranormal Romance (Friends)

For the YA paranormal romance book writing challenge, we chose to have our two main characters be the best of friends and lovers. They started out being mortals, being on the same side of the war, and trying to destroy every immortal being. Now, they both are on opposite sides of the battle going on between the mortals and immortals. The battle has been going on for centuries. During the biggest battle ever, they suffer major loss on their side and not only that but one of them gets captured. This main character is already beaten badly due to fighting against the immortals. The immortals decide they were not finished so they torture the character even more. As though testing to see how weak the mortal really was. Not giving them the satisfaction they wanted, they decide to turn him.

Back at the battle grounds the mortals have suffered a major loss in soldiers, their numbers  already cut in half they were losing hope. Heading back to mortal camps to seek medical treatments the mortal warriors head home. Lora Kingston, feeling numbed at watching her best friend and lover being captured was enough to put her whole body in sock forever. All mortals knew that once captured, all hope is lost. No one ever survived from being an immortal captive. The immortals displayed the mortal captive bodies out to prove to the mortals just how much stronger they were. Feeling sick, Lora heads to the practice ring. The one place for mortals to practice fighting and to build up their strengths. The only thing Lora wanted to do was revenge her best friend’s death. To kill the immortals who took Kevin from her. She was more than willing to die trying to avenge his death than to sit around mourning.

Kevin wakes up, realizing he’s still alive. His body felt different.  All he remembered was being captured and then being tortured badly. To the point he wished they’d just pierce his sword right through him. But they didn’t. He can still breathe, smell, and see. What the hell is wrong with me, he thought. His vision blurring and his pulse increasing, Kevin could only think of one thing… They changed him. He was no longer a mortal, like his best friend and love, Lora Kingston. Shit. He can’t be one of them. His hatred was strong enough. Why did they change him.

It’s not long before Kevin grows use to his changed behaviors and differences. He wanted to rip them apart. To make them suffer for changing him. Yet, he wasn’t strong enough to fight them. All he knew was that he would strike when he was ready. And then he had to see Lora. Oh, gosh, Lora. Knowing Lora as long as he did. He knew she wouldn’t rest til she avenged his death. Shit, not good. He had to escape out of here. and get to her before she dies trying to kill the immortals on her own.

Lora, preparing her things for tomorrow’s journey to seek revenge for Kevin’s death, silently slips into her bed for the last time. Thinking of all the memories her and Kevin both shared, tears started falling down her flushed cheeks, into the quiet night.  Kevin using all his strength breaks out of his room and into the black night running to Lora. Hoping with all his might he reaches her before she heads to the immortals.

Hearing noise outside her room, Lora wakes. Taking her sharpened blade her grandfather gave her long ago she tip toes nears her window. Carefully looking out, she sees nothing but utter darkness. No sounds. Just quietness. Turning her back against the wall, she patiently waits, listening for the sounds she heard before. Not hearing anything she heads back to her bed. But lies awake.

Kevin having reached Lora’s bedroom window, jumps onto a tree scrambling up to her window. With the racket he’s making he is surprised she hasn’t come to see what the noise was. Carefully he lifts the window open, sliding in halfway before being attacked. Being held down, by something warm and utterly female..Kevin let’s his attacker do what she wishes.

Lora hearing the window open and seeing it with her own eyes prepares for battle. Once the man slid halfway in, Lora pulls him down fast, twisting his arms behind his back hard. After she felt she had him in a death grip she silently asked him, who he was. Kevin, now realizing the female was indeed Lora, relaxed. Feeling relieved she was still at home. “Lora, its me, Kevin. You can let go now.” Unbelieving her ears, Lora let’s go of her intruder completely. “Kevin?”

“Yeah..it’s me.”

“Omg.. but it can’t be. You were captured and tortured. I saw with my own eyes..”

Seeing the trail of tears streaming down her face, Kevin silently moves to her side and gently caresses her cheek, wiping the tears away. “I know. I should be dead after what they did to me. But I am not. I am here now with you.”

“How..?” Lora grasping him closer to her. Needing to feel him close to her. Needing to know he’s real.

“They changed me..”

Lora stepping away but looking him directly in the eyes said,” No, that can’t be.No one has ever survived by them..”

“I should be dead. I was tortured. They do not keep mortals alive. But, I am. Feel how real I am. I am warm just like you. I can breathe, smell, see, and do all you can do. So, tell me how that is, if I  have not been changed?”

Writing Challenge #5-2 YA Paranormal Romance (strangers)

So far, we have written about two main characters as complete strangers who are fighting on opposing sides. And that one of them knows all this and the other one is completely unaware of the fact. You wrote how they fell in love, and were trying to hide it and then someone found out and reported them. This then caused more trouble for our  two main characters and their kind. Both sides are battling each other in gruesome wars. Killing and taking prisoners and changing them. All that left our characters on the run. From their own kind on each side. Then suddenly we introduced another character who deals with the informer and gets control over the whole situation trying to help the two love birds. This helper is very influential and comes to their aide because he/ she was in love with one of the main characters.

Now, we need to write about what happens next. First, we need to create yet another conflict. Let’s say the male character who is in love with our female lead character ( the first two characters we created), what happens when they bond their love together? And how does this help prevent his kind from killing her, the mortal enemy? After their helper finds out that due to our main characters love bond that the enemy side hasn’t and won’t bring harm to a mortal. All are stunned. Mortals have been fighting these immortal warriors forever because they harmed mortals before. Now they just stop because one of them is in love with a mortal? What does a bond between the mortal and immortal characters mean? And how is it unbroken? Does this bring about a peace treaty to both sides after centuries of battling each other? Write how you want this first book of the young adult paranormal romance series to end?

You want a tougher challenge? Add a cliffhanger at the ending..

A cliffhanger makes your reader want to know what happens next…

And to find out what happens next…they will just have to read the next book!

Advice on how to begin the next book in this series, I would start off mentioning how our two characters are doing after there has been several years of peace since their bonding. Now new trouble is stirring up.

Name the troubles going on… and write from there.

Writing Challenge #5-1 YA Paranormal Romance ( Friends)

In the first part of this writing challenge, I gave you two different choices to write about. The second one was about two main characters who are the best of friends, in love with each other, and are preparing to fight in their biggest battle ever. They head out to battle and their side takes a major loss. Along with that loss, one of the two main characters is taken hostage, tortured, and changed from a mortal into an immortal. You also wrote how both main characters felt about what happened that day in battle. They both lost the other one. Now both have found themselves on opposing sides of the battle. Also, you mentioned how they struggle with their feelings for each other when they should be fighting each other. Once best friends, now enemies. Both were once mortals, fighting a battle against immortal beings. Now one is a mortal, while the other is now an immortal.

Are they both fighting against each other? Or do they realize that even after what happened on the day of the battle both are still fighting for the same reason. What is that reason? How hard is it for them being mortal and the other being immortal? Does the immortal one change the other one? What happens when given that chance? Will the mortal one freely choose to be changed forever? Or will the immortal one not change the other, for reasons only known to the character? Are both their kinds going to fight again taking in huge losses again? Or can they both stop their sides from fighting each other?

Answer all this in your written response down below using only 700 words!!!!

Writing Challenge #5-1 YA Paranormal Romance (Strangers)

On the first part of Writing challenge, I gave you all two writing options. One, write your two main characters as complete strangers who are fighting on opposing sides. One of them knows that they both are enemies, and the other one is completely obvious of the fact. You wrote about how they met, fell in love, and are trying to hide it from others on their side. Someone on one of their sides has found out about the two of them. And is planing on telling their little secret. This new character then puts one of the main character’s life in jeopardy. This causes the other main character to act fast in making in big decision that only makes things turn out worse.

Write what the decision is. And how it affects both main character’s fate. How does this one rash decision make things worse for both of them? Do they both go on the run from their own people? Are they both looked upon as enemies from their own kind? What new challenges do they face as they run for their lives? Is there anyone on either of the main character’s side that finds out everything and decides to put a stop to the one who told on them? And why? Who is this newest character to one of the main characters? A best friend? A sibling? Someone who loves one of the main characters, and decides that instead of being angry that he/she isn’t loved back decides to help them out?

Write all this using only 700 words!!!!!!

Writing Challenge #5-1

Today, we will be writing a paranormal young adult book.  For this challenge you are to choose two main good characters ( one male & one female).

Do you want these two main characters to be best friends? Or                                   strangers?

If they are strangers, are they both fighting on the opposite sides? Or                   the same  side?

If they are fighting opposite sides, and are complete strangers, you need to write  about how they meet, fall in love with only one of them knowing they are complete   enemies. Does the one character who knows they are complete enemies help his/or  her love stay safe? How does this character go about protecting his/ her love without his/her side knowing that he/she is helping their enemy? To make the plot move forward and help keep readers interest, write about someone finding out that he/she is helping the enemy and why he/she is doing so. And that this new character is going to report it right away. Also, be sure to mention what type of paranormal beings your characters are and who they are fighting against and why!!!!!!!!!!!

Write all this using only 700 words in the comment space below for feedback!

OR

If you are writing about your two main character being best friends, then write how they are both preparing to fight for the biggest battle ever. Mention, how much they love each other and are willing to sacrifice everything to be together forever. Write what happens when they go out to battle and one is held captive, and tortured before being turned to the other side? Mention the character  who was captured how he/ or she was tortured and turned. Does this character now fight for the opposing side? How much has he/she changed? Does the changed character still love the other character? Describe what both characters are going through from the battle, to the capturing of their loved one, to finding out their loved one has changed, to how they both are now fighting opposing sides. Or are they (fighting opposing sides)? Don’t forget to mention how both characters were mortals and now one has been changed to an immortal.  Who were they fighting against in the beginning? And why?
