Review: Her Perfect Affair by Priscilla Oliveras

Her Perfect Affair (Matched to Perfection #2)

Synopsis:

A ZEBRA SHOUT FRESH NEW ROMANCE

The Fernandez sisters have always had big dreams, and the talent and drive to pursue them. And in this sunny, spicy new series, each one will discover that success is that much sweeter when love follows . . .

Rosa Fernandez doesn’t act on impulse–she’s the responsible one, planning her career with precision, finally landing a job as the librarian at conservative Queen of Peace Academy, confining her strongest emotions to her secret poetry journal. But she’s been harboring a secret crush on dreamy Jeremy Taylor, and after one dance with him at her sister’s wedding, Rosa longs to let loose for the first time. She deserves some fun, after all. So what if she doesn’t have a shot with Jeremy, not with his wealthy pedigree and high profile lifestyle. But one dance leads to one kiss, and soon Rosa is head-over-heels . . .

The adopted son of a prominent Chicago lawyer, Jeremy has a lot to live up to–especially with his birth father in prison–the perfect example of a bad example. With a big promotion and a move to Japan in the works, Jeremy is worlds away from settling down. But sweet, steady Rosa is a temptation he doesn’t want to deny himself, at least for now. Yet when their simple fling turns complicated, everything they’ve both worked for is threatened–except the red-hot intimacy they’ve found together. Can forever really grow from just-for-now?

Review:

Her Perfect Affair by Priscilla Oliveras delivered on heat, sassy heroines, and a romantic story. A young Puerto Rican woman is determined to stay the good girl. She works hard and does not allow herself to play just as hard. Until her sister’s wedding, Rosa Fernandez finds herself wishing about a romance with a particular man. Little does she know, but fate has granted her a wish come true. It seems like the perfect story. But in reality Rosa gets a taste of it for a bit. A tease of what could be. The young man has a lot of pressure with family and his career. Rosa won’t let him into her life, until he mends his family tension and decides where he wants to be with his career. But until he does, neither one is happy.

Priscilla Oliveras writes well. The only thing that stops me from rating the book higher was due to the characters. The main protagonists kept pushing the off button. Rosa pushes Jeremy away countless times during the novel. Even her sisters said, she’s crazy. While her fear of tying down Jeremy made some sense, it still didn’t feel right. She never worked to keep him close to her. It was like, okay, Jeremy, it’s all up to you. Whatever Jeremy chooses that would have been how the story ended. Rosa shows no sign of fighting for Jeremy. Jeremy not once really fought to persuade Rosa that he really wanted to be at her side more than nay thing. It just felt flat in this area. Otherwise, the rest was perfect.

Review:

Sealionaire (Book 3) by both MS Parker and Shiloh Walker is the final journey. First off, I have to say that both MS Parker and Shiloh Walker are a great team. Their combined writing efforts in making this series were fantastic. I was already a major fan of Shiloh Walker’s novels. Her stories brilliant. Then, reading this new series introduced me to another talented writer, MS Parker. I will now, be looking out for her novels as well. Hot, sexy, and a book readers won’t be able to resist. I couldn’t put it down. This last story had every element I loved. Danger, raw desires, and a suspense that kept me lured. Baited me instantly. Hooked me after reading the first page. The ending was explosive.

Sealionaire (Book 3) offered a sexy Navy Seal as the bodyguard. I can already sense the appeal. A man who knows how to react to a deadly environment as well as protecting the innocent. Here, his job just got more interesting. He will have to put every skill he knows into saving a woman. A woman who has him so aroused that it’s hard not to grin. The tipping was that the leading female character felt just as intensely about the bodyguard as he did her. As the threat of danger rose so, did their heat and attraction for one another. Absolutely, charming and steamy. After reading this romantic suspense tale, readers will be begging for more. It’s a read, readers can’t miss. Overall, I highly recommend Sealionaire (book 3) to readers everywhere.

Review: I Take You

Synopsis:

Lily’s fiancé Will is a brilliant, handsome archaeologist. Lily is sassy, impulsive, fond of a good drink (or five) and has no business getting married. Lily likes Will, but does she love him? Will loves Lily, but does he know her? As the wedding approaches, Lily’s nights—and mornings, and afternoons—of booze, laughter, and questionable decisions become a growing reminder that the happiest day of her life might turn out to be her worst mistake yet.

Unapologetically sexy with the ribald humor of Bridesmaids, this joyously provocative debut introduces a self-assured protagonist you won’t soon forget.

Review:

I Take You by Eliza Kennedy is a sassy, sexy, hilarious read. Instantly, I found myself turning the pages fast. The main character is quirky. Her ways are not what I would do yet, the way she is presented is great. Eliza Kennedy has done a fabulous job in creating a leading female character that has more flaws than perfections. That’s what made this book so easy to connect with…there’s a lot of sex with men and things that would leave me utterly speechless. However, Lily, the soon to be bride knows how to live life fully. Lily is about the most impulsive character I have met. Readers will never be able to guess what she does next or why. A woman about to be married may or may not actually get married. Her journey to that moment will string readers along and leave them laughing at the craziness of who Lily is. Overall, I highly recommend I Take You to readers everywhere. This is definitely a must read for all.

Love Me If You Can 2 by Shanice B. is wound up too tight in this urban drama that it’s hard to resist. The plot thickens to a boiling point…who will survive and who doesn’t, keeps readers on the edge of their seats as they race through this exciting tale. I simply can’t get enough of these fabulous characters. Their sassy strong personalities and heated love debates and love triangles keep me guessing. I want Keandria to be with a man that make her happy but now it seems that her new man, as well as her old one, have both sunk low in handling things with her. Who she picks to keep on living with is a question that drives readers further into the plot. Then there’s an unexpected twist with Jasmine wanting to wreck havoc on everybody’s life that has the power to flip the entire plot over and make it interesting…Love Me If You Can 2 is the craziest yet most intense urban drama romance that I have ever read. I absolutely loved reading this new title by Shanice B. Her writing is brilliant and realistic. Overall, I highly recommend this new title to readers everywhere.

Review:

Charmed by the Best by J. Shanay is stunning. This urban drama fiction is packed with everything readers want. Action, suspense, and heat. J. Shanay introduces two characters that are so realistic that it’s amazing this novel is just a piece of fiction. There is Chayne. A smart, sassy, and beautiful African American woman who grows up loving a boy. The boy who stole her first kiss and her heart. Devon is the good looking sports guy that grows up near Chayne. They both go through similar family issues and are deeply in love with one another. However, time takes them away from one another time and time again. Every time they meet they feel the pull on their hearts. Tragedy soon strikes and leaves them separated once again…as life goes by Chayne and Devon go their own ways. That’s when a new player comes in…Sterling.  Sterling is a hot and wealthy sports guy who has fallen for Chayne. Charmed by the Best is an urban romance about one woman whose heart has to decide which man she loves. J. Shanay’s writing kept me lured and sucked in from page one. Her characters and their emotional journeys are enticing. They are easy to connect to on every level. This urban fiction is definitely three dimensional, and I highly recommend it to others.

Rating: 5 stars

Review:

The Alphas’ Bliss by G.J. Cox is a sensational masterpiece that instantly hit home with me. I was immediately blown away by the strong male and female characters. G.J. Cox’s writing is superb. Anyone that opens up any one of her novels knows this…no matter what genre she experiments with…this talented writer can succeed at such levels that readers will feel a tug to her writing and characters. The scenes pop off the pages and once again the characters are definitely three-dimensional. Inside this particular novel, G.J. Cox wrote her first paranormal contemporary romance packed with several surprises. One such surprise is having two alpha males from different sides that are also best friends find their mate…the issue is that both claim she’s their mate. What happens next sent me on a thrilling journey and wild choose chase as the victim and alphas searched for the suspects. Suspects because the danger is so close to home that it’s frightening. The strength of the males is intoxicating…and the heat packed inside is scorching hot. So hot I felt myself blushing as I race to turn the pages in haste to finish reading it all. Overall, I loved this new title and was amazed by the raw beauty of the story at hand. Sure many will say it’s just a romance novel packed with lots of sex, but those who really read this will find that it’s so much more than just that. I felt the characters’ emotions as though I were te only one experiencing the fear, the tears, and the heightened pleasure…a crazy but fun filled world that over took me senses from page one.

Review: A Dangerous Love

Synopsis:

I’m the local sheriff of a small Montana town. Blue is the owner of the local pub. We have a great friendship, but I’m starting to want more. I’m not sure when Blue had become so important to me, or when I started to see her in a light other than friendship. All I know is that I want her, badly. She’s a little hesitant, at first, to get involved, but I finally convince her to go out on a ‘real’ date with me.

Soon after our initial date, she starts getting harassed and threatened. Her pub is even set on fire. Someone is after her, and we don’t know who or why, but it definitely has something to do with her involvement with me. Will our new, budding relationship survive the turmoil and danger?

Rating: 5 stars

Review:

A Dangerous Love by G.J. Cox is superb. I was immediately taken into the life of one very sexy sheriff whose beyond wealthy and a sassy lady who owns a bar. Both of these characters with their personalities, love, and life troubles had me intrigued.  Their instant hot chemistry filled the pages. Both are so crazy about each other and when they suddenly let it all out…the heat burns up…like a one-hundred-degree summer day. Jealousy, danger, and a hot romance all are on the line in this magnificent title by G.J. Cox. This was the first of her novels that I have ever read…and I was blown away by the compelling plotline and the irresistible characters. The story was fast-paced, steamy, and suspenseful. If it’s not one dangerous thing…it’s another…and the two characters…both Blue and her sheriff lover may lose each other if the criminal or criminals are not caught soon. A Dangerous Love is addictive, highly entertaining, and overall a must read for readers everywhere. I highly recommend this romance to all.

Review: Remembrance

Synopsis:

Fifteen years after the release of the first Mediator novel, #1 New York Times bestselling author Meg Cabot returns with a deliciously sexy new entry to a fan-favorite series. Suze Simon—all grown up and engaged to her once-ghostly soulmate—faces a vengeful spirit and an old enemy bent on ending Suze’s wedded bliss before it begins.

You can take the boy out of the darkness.

But you can’t take the darkness out of the boy.

From a sophomore haunted by the murderous specter of a child, to ghosts of a very different kind—including Paul Slater, Suze’s ex, who shows up to make a bargain Suze is certain must have come from the Devil himself—Suze isn’t sure she’ll make it through the semester, let alone to her wedding night.

Suze is used to striking first and asking questions later. But what happens when ghosts from her past—including one she found nearly impossible to resist—strike first?

What happens when old ghosts come back to haunt you?

If you’re a mediator, you might have to kick a little ass.

Review:

Remembrance by Meg Cabot is brilliantly well-done. It’s no wonder readers flock to her novels. This was my first novel by Meg Cabot. I have heard so much about her and her writing. I have to say, she didn’t disappoint. Her characters have a way of grabbing readers in by the shirts and dragging them deep into the heart of the story. A heart-pounding, exciting, and highly suspenseful plot will lure readers in by the hundreds. The scenes are not just words but places that, takes readers out of their reading spots and into the action. Never a dull nor boring moment in Meg Cabot’s, Remembrance. A novel worthy of remembering by all who read it.

Remembrance  is a contemporary novel that instantly pulls readers in from the beginning. We met the charming yet sharp-tongued lady, Susannah Simon. Her life is on the road to becoming everything she wants it to be…yet trouble comes tumbling in fast and she’s got to act fast. There’s a guy stuck on harassing her, ghosts driving her insane, and then there’s the murder she’s come upon. Remembrance is indeed highly entertaining. Readers won’t be able to get enough of this masterfully woven story nor its characters. Juggling with the past and present troubles, dealing with her internship for a job she wants and being engaged can be tough to handle for one woman. Yet, somehow Susannah Simon, a mediator, is willing to take it all. But the question is can she? Meg Cabot is indeed one talented writer whose novels are a must read. Remembrance is out of this world…the stakes are high, the suspense hangs thickly in the air…and the romance is sweeter than readers can imagine. I highly recommend this stunning, fast-paced, and sassy read to everyone worldwide.
