Review:

The Prada Plan 5 by Ashely Antoinette is another drama filled urban fiction read. Having not read any of the previous novels, it was hard to follow along. Trying to figure out why the main charcaters made the choices they did was not easy to understand. However, the drama filled world of their was certainly entertaining. There was never a boring moment. Tough love, bad choices, wrong relationships, and trouble were just some of the issues brought into the book. Living the rich life isn’t easy, nor as fun as the fantasy of it. Pressure lies heavily upon the charcaters…their actions will layout their futures…chasing after dreams is hard. Ashley Antionette is a talented writer. I have read other novels co-written by her. This novel would be easy to follow along if I had read her previous Prada novels. However, the plot was fast-paced and juicy. The entertainment never ended. Overall, The Prada Plan 5 was a great read.

Review:

Luxe 2 by Ashley Antoinette is an urban fiction tale that nailed my attention. Immediately, the main charcater’s life was hitting rock bottom. The life of drugs over taking her. Luckily, Bleu had two men in her life and several friends to help her. One man is a kingpin the other is a best friend who wants to rescue her. But only if Blue lets him. Noah is the man that is good for the main charcater. I can’t say too much without giving away the plot…next, there’s Iman. He loves Bleu but her heart says Noah. Yet he’s still a major part of life in more than one way. Bleu is a strong heroine that will need to make major decisions soon before it’s too late for her. Surprises and plot twists are ahead for readers. I enjoyed reading this African American novel. It portrayed real lives in a fictional sense. Everything was believable. Overall, I recommend Luxe 2 to readers.

“Simone’s story is reminiscent of Sistah Souljah’s groundbreaking The Coldest Winter Ever…a hard hitting tale of the inner city’s unforgiving streets.” —Library Journal

“Simone knows how to tell a story…and she can also bring the drama.” —RT Book Reviews

Rating: 5-stars

Review:

Dear Yvette by Ni-Ni Simone is an interesting YA novel. An urban fiction read that has all of the drama, action, and stakes readers want. Criminal activity, past murder charge, and the difficulty of restarting a life. Yvette Simons will have a challenge at every corner. Staying away from everything she knew will prove hard. Then to add to the intensity of the plot, she finds herself attracted to a good looking guy. But whether he will break or make her new life is for readers to see…

Ni-Ni Simone has a way of capturing the street life of young adults inside of her books. The teens come to life. Their choices are scary and drastic. I was left to holding my breath waiting for anything to tilt Yvette’s life. A life that felt like is was hanging onto a thin thread. Intriguing, exciting, and believable. The plot was like a rollercoaster ride. Overall, I recommend this to readers.

Review: The Streets have No King

The crown always lies heavy on he who commands the streets–and Kane and Basil will fight to claim their rule, before power is toppled again, in The Streets Have No King by New York Times bestselling author JaQuavis Coleman.

Review:

The Streets have No King by JaQuavis Coleman is a thrilling read. Dark, gritty, and intense. The plot caught my attention instantly. Here, I met a main charcater who doesn’t go back to his old lifestyle. I would have thought he would, but he didn’t. At least, not right away. Then, he meets a young man who he sees something in and together they go to the main character’s bad way of life. To them, it wasn’t bad…until stakes were involved. Like the previous street king’s daughter. Then, from there…things quickly escalated and heated. Danger, suspense, and intrigue has tied itself around me. Taking me hostage within the book. JaQuavis Coleman’s writing has a way of planting me deep inside a different world. A world where there are no friends and only risks to take. A non ending game of life, death, and chances of the high life. But as with the real world criminal activity always had a way of pulling one down under…and destroying what was once good. Overall, I enjoyed exploring this urban street fiction. I would recommend this novel to adults only due to the high volume of drugs and violence. Interesting read…that contains real life scenarios. I got this copy from the publisher and this is my honest review.

Plain Jane Volume 1 by Danielle Bouying is an interesting perspective on life. Here, I got to follow a young woman who went from nothing to something. As readers will see, the life of the rich is not all that glamours. People, even the rich, get used. No one really knows if one is a true friend or friend for a specific reason. Same thing happens when romance begins. Is a lover really into the character her or not…and how she handles it all. I was intrigued. This book gives an inside peek into a rapper’s life and the things that could break her or make her better. Overall, I recommend Plain Jane Volume 1 to readers everywhere. The plot is different than my normal reading and proved worthy of my time. Easy to read and follow along.

Review:

Norian Love has once more brought another African Amaerican novel, Seduction, to life. The drama quickly excelerates as the pages are turned. Fast-paced, exciting, and full of action. The reality of relationships is seen clearly within this urban fiction piece. Never a boring moment where these characters are. Balancing careers, friendships, enemies, and love is a tough job. Some make it and some are left broken. Attraction, money, and sex are constant themes found here. I enjoyed watching as each character struggled with the weight of what life brought them. Readers can easily connect with the characters. Oh, the drama…is pretty intense and crazy. I would highly recommend this for those who love an endless amount of the drama life. Both the highs and lows of it. Seduction is a juicy yet entertaining piece of literature. Suited only for adults due to the content inside of it.

Rating: 5-stars

Review:

Brooklyn Streets Meet Wall Street is an urban fiction novel that readers won’t forget. It literally takes readers straight into the characters’ lives.  Josh is an African American who grew up on the streets and dreamed of doing something better with his life. That dream was working at Wall Street. Financial investments. Wearing a suit to Josh represents respect. Wearing a suit would give him the respect he wants. However, life is never as simple or easy as well plan. There’s always more struggles, tough choices, and mistakes before we get anywhere. I liked how this urban fiction novel was easy to read and follow along to…it represented a realistic side to the street life. The ugly side to how the poor really live and how they struggle to make ends meet. Their decisions to engage in crime shows two sides of them. Survivors and and those who don’t care about humanity. From killing to drugs…readers can feel the violence and intensity of every situation. Coming from this kind of lifestyle is hard to get away from no matter how high one is willing to sprite in the world. James Jimmy Richardson has created an entertaining read that will capture his audiences from everywhere. Well-written, stunning, and well-developed. Overall, I recommend Brooklyn Streets Meet Wall Street to readers everywhere.

These subcultures are seen through Jaime’s eyes as he struggles to stay ahead of the malevolence that is cutting down those closest to him. Jaime’s worlds can no longer be separated. He must choose before others choose for him.

Review:

Cross-Out by Roger Cannon is a must read for all. Teens and adults need to read this book. It portrays the realistic side of a teen being stuck in the crosshairs of danger. Choices have to made before there isn’t time to choose. Urban street life comes alive on every page. The main character, Jamie, is the teen who is living it rough. He has secrets like the rest of us. His is the fact of living three separate lives which will clash time and time again, if he doesn’t do something about it. His family could be in danger. The intensity of his dreadful situation builds. Keeping me satisfied and hoping for the best. I want to sympathize and shake that kid. Taking his problems on his own may not be the solution. Bold, deadly, and entertaining. Cross-Out is about a community that also has a darkness. Good and evil living together…one will win. Suspenseful and cleverly written, Roger Cannon pulled me deep into his story. The title is a symbol…which readers will find once they begun this journey…overall, I highly recommend this crime novel to all.

A ghost that is easily bored, is one that will get into a whole leap of trouble. Arnold needs a friend to quake his thirst in his afterlife. Fate is funny, because he ends up getting not one but many friends. Friends who will also get into major trouble along with Arnold. Arnold is a ghost that is not like any others i have read about…he days the norm. Damon Norko has created an unusual yet highly entertaining fantasy that readers everywhere will enjoy. The ghost’s journey and growth as a character are brilliant. Arnold is also, very easy to connect with…his feelings are believable and portray him as realistic. Review:

I Can’t Trust You by Christina Fletcher is an addictive urban romance. One that readers such as myself can’t stop reading. The drama is thick, entertaining, and crazy. There is never a dull moment and just when things seem okay, they turn out for the worse. Christina Fletcher has brilliantly woven themes like abuse, cheating, and betrayal. Love, murder, and secrets are also a major part of this novel. Women everywhere can relate to one or more of these issues portrayed within the story. The female characters are strong but all it takes is the men in their lives to pull the rugs from under their feet. The characters don’t see it coming to them until it’s too late. Life is chaotic but the four women friends will find that chaotic isn’t a strong enough word to describe the events happening to ruin to lives. Trust is hard to come by and rarely exists…but there are a seldom few who will find it. Will Jori, Lauren, LaTasha, and Melanie be able to find it? Overall, I highly recommend this well-written tale to women everywhere. Christina Fletcher has a talent for hooking her readers. I Can’t Trust You is definitely a must read for all.

Brittany McBryde keeps her readers entertained with steamy sex, danger, and intrigue. Reader’s will not be able to guess what happens to each character or why it happens. The suspense creates a strong desire to keep on reading. Soon, readers will find themselves finished with the book. The characters’ lives overlap each other’s. Readers will be intrigued from the first page. The action and suspense of what will be, keeps readers hooked. Regina Swanson has once again, put her superb writing into another fabulous read. When men have it good with a good decent woman…they somehow think they need something more because their lives got too boring or too hard to handle. Wusses. If a man needs another woman on the side then, the issues lie with him. The wives and other women in this story are realistic that it’s funny. I can visualize all the scenes. Regret the Day I Said Yes is more like a fast-paced movie than a novel. Detailed just enough to pop images into readers’ minds. Jealousy, rage, lust and the feeling of loss are all woven into this title. Great emotional journey. Ups and downs just like real life. Regina Swanson has a way of making her novels real. It’s hard to believe they’re just fiction. Juicy, steamy, and addictive. I managed to read the whole novel in an hour. Absolutely, loved reading this urban romance. The harsh realities that couples face when their loved one cheats…hurts. Friends are more entangled in each other’s lives than they thought. Sex with the other person’s partner. Yet not all couples know that their partner is cheating until it comes out in the open. Children are angry because their father cheated on their mom. Then the woman he cheated with is awful towards his kids…now, he’s rethinking his relationship with her. Friendships are forever changed. The sparks and desires are enchanting. Overall, I highly recommend this novel to readers everywhere.

Review:

Love Me If You Can 3: The Finale by Shanice B. is a fabulous ending to a hot drama series. This is one urban street romance that sucks readers in whole. The drama never ends with these characters. If the guys try to do what’s right only to be pushed away…then, there’s only so many times they will take it. Then, after they reach their boiling point they will break away and move on…the ladies are just as bad. A married woman is giving a cheating man a second chance only to find that he’s still cheating on her. When she meets up with a guy from the past…she wonders about her current relationship.  A decent man has a new girlfriend but when he sees a hooker that he slept with working a regular job…he begins to wonder why he let her go. Love may or may not be in the cards for any of these characters. Even the good guys mess up and the romance is steamy. There’s never a boring moment. A true and final page turner in this exciting series. I loved following the characters’ final chapter. Overall, I highly recommend this African American novel to all. Love Me If You Can 3: The Finale is a definite must read

Review:

Who’s Between the Sheets by Shanice B. is definitely one urban romance that readers don’t want to miss. Shanice B.’s talent continues to shine on with every novel that she writes. I can’t believe how realistic her characters are. The emotional journey is powerful and believable. It’s easy to lose oneself within each character’s shoes. Understanding and sympathy can be felt for some female and one male character. Marriage life is full of its ups and downs…especially for characters like Hazel. Her husband has been cheating on her for two years with a stripper. The stripper is pregnant and then ends up losing the baby. But that doesn’t stop the stripper from destroying what’s left of Hazel’s marriage. The marriage is barely hanging on by a thread and only hanging on due to her recent discovery of being pregnant with her cheating husband’s baby. As soon as the stripper comes by with her plan to destroy…Hazel gives up and her husband, Jamal, finds that marriage is just not what he wants anymore. Working on being a better mother and girlfriend to Jamal…but only time will tell if everything will work out for Jamal and his woman. Drama is tenfold in this exciting tale. I was surprised by all the crazy stuff going on that Shanice B. was able to keep things going straight…it was easy and fast to read. I felt like I was watching everything happen as it happened. Incredible…steamy, and contains a lot of adult content…but definitely a must read. Who’s Between the Sheets will keep readers guessing…

Rating: 5 stars

Review:

What the Hell Was I Thinking by MZ Joe is a dark urban read. Inside, readers will explore issues that are still being faced within out society today. Child abuse, sexual harassments, and sexual identity. This novel was definitely fast-paced and realistic. The family issues going on were believable and sad. I couldn’t believe all that went on with the main character when she was only a child and then continued as she grew up…then there are the marital issues, molestation, and rape. Quite an eye opener read. The writer left strong points such as watch out for men that are too close your kids and watch your kids at all times. If left unattended, bad things can happen just like what happened to the main character inside this novel. Now, as a grown adult, the character still struggles from her past and present.

What the Hell Was I Thinking takes readers on a young woman’s journey into her past and present. It was also done in a way that makes readers more aware of bad situations. I liked how they MZ Joe kept me guessing as to what would happen next in China’s life. China was raped by a man her mother was having an affair with…and when the affair was ended the man took revenge on China. After that, China was never the same again. Sex was a constant in her life. The story was like a rollercoaster…both good and bad points. This urban fiction was well done. I highly recommend it to readers everywhere.

Review:

Love & Hustle by Willnide Desrosier is definitely a dark and edgy read. There’s tons of drama, trouble, and hearts on the line. Inside this urban romance, readers will find a lot of adult content such as drugs and sex. The main characters are an interesting set. Both come from different sides of the world but share the same kind of experiences when they were growing up…Brittanya is a tattoo artist. She doesn’t want any other job but the one she has. College is not anything she wants either. However, like all women, she wants true love. But in her line of work finding that will be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Then there’s De’Quan. He’s a thug who wins Brittanya’s heart and he too is looking for true love. For De’Quan and Brittanya finding their true love will be difficult and once found it will be even harder to keep. Consequences, drama, and trouble follow these two as their journey deepens. Every page contained a lot of action and enough juicy details to keep readers hooked. Willnide Desrosier’s writing is great. Her characters come alive. The intrigue is thick and heavy. The romance and heat is hot enough to set the pages on fire. Overall, I would recommend Love & Hustle to readers everywhere.

Review:

Thugalicious by Tyrianna Gregory is the most complex novel ever. This urban drama is so high the intensity can be felt sizzling from the pages being read. I held my breath waiting for the explosion that I knew was bound to come out…the situations inside this well-written tale are beyond complicated. Nothing like a good messy romance to read. Tyrianna Gregory brings a lot of action, heat, and suspense within this exciting read. Yes, there are a lot of issues happening with the main character Brae but that’s what makes this novel interesting. Life is messy. Crap happens. The writer brought out a realistic character with believable struggles. Yes, I can definitely see a woman struggling with raising a child, with her first love, who doesn’t find out until he’s in the hospital. Then, there’s the issue of her being pregnant and loving another man as well as being buried deep into a dark career. There was never a boring moment on any of the pages. The dialogue was great and the characters fit their roles perfectly. I would definitely recommend this novel to other readers and look forward to the next novel in this exciting adventure. I have to know what happens next.

Love Me If You Can by Shanice B. is  hot, sexy, and seductive. The writing takes readers deep into the drama high story. This urban romance is intense…it starts off with a woman who deals with her annoying baby daddy that doesn’t know when to quit. She works her butt off, at an adult center so that she can pull off enough money to take care of her and her child. There is plenty of trouble between parents and the threat of child visitation rights.  A woman fighting to provide for her child finds out that things between her parents are just as bad as her own issues. Then there is her friend who also works as a stripper. She too has men issues. Men screwing other women when they already have a woman who wants them. I rooted for the two women as they kicked their men’s butt out to the curb. The future looks bumpy but it might just be worth fighting for…Keandria has a new man in her life helping her with the custody battle and Michele has a man that wants her but she has to quit her stripper job…can these ladies find the happiness they both deserve or will their battles take everything away? Love Me If You Can by Shanice B. is absolutely a must read for all. I couldn’t get enough of these tough female characters and their men issues. Review:

Charmed by the Best 2 by J. Shanay is amazing! Her novel is just as hot and intense as the previous book. The set of characters has once again been brought together waiting for news that may decide their fates once again. Having a baby and being stuck in love with a past lover may set Chayne on a new adventure. The drama is juicy and addictive. As with the previous book, I still didn’t know what to expect nor when.  Charmed by the Best 2 is just that. Chayne has been charmed by the best…Devon. Devon still loves Chayne…his first love.  Sterling hopes that if the baby is his that he and Chayne can be a unit…but it all depends on the results and where Chayne’s heart truly lies.

Charmed by the Best 2 is an urban fiction drama that instantly pulled me into its depth and kept me there like a prisoner. The writing is well done and the characters are magnificently well-developed. J. Shanay continued to impress me as her story unfolded. The excitement and thrilling adventures in this urban romance led to me falling for the characters especially for Chayne and Devon. Life can be bumpy but it can also be smooth too. Overall, I highly recommend this, fast-paced action novel to readers everywhere. I promise you will be charmed by the best.

Charmed by the Best by J. Shanay is stunning. This urban drama fiction is packed with everything readers want. Action, suspense, and heat. J. Shanay introduces two characters that are so realistic that it’s amazing this novel is just a piece of fiction. There is Chayne. A smart, sassy, and beautiful African American woman who grows up loving a boy. The boy who stole her first kiss and her heart. Devon is the good looking sports guy that grows up near Chayne. They both go through similar family issues and are deeply in love with one another. However, time takes them away from one another time and time again. Every time they meet they feel the pull on their hearts. Tragedy soon strikes and leaves them separated once again…as life goes by Chayne and Devon go their own ways. Review:

Reign & Chase by L. Monique is a powerfully deep novel with tons of real life issues. Both Reign and Chase instantly became my new favorite couple. Life tosses crap our way…and these two definitely have experienced it in heavy doses. Their journey is far from over. The beginning of this emotional thrill ride, I got a glimpse into Reign’s younger life style and her backstory. I can only imagine how hard it was for her to lose someone close at that age. The main character Reign puts on a tough face and attitude but she’s really more caring then she lets everyone believe. Then there’s the chemistry of the two main characters that is beyond hot and steamy. I really liked how L. Monique brought the all the characters to life by giving them real flaws and fears. It just shows that even fictional characters are human too. They have to struggle and survive like the rest of us. This novel was my first one that I have read by this talented writer. She brilliantly puts in enough action, emotions, and spice that carried me through until the ending. Suspense and intrigue hang thickly in this well-written plot. I wasn’t sure what secret Reign’s best friend was hiding or the danger that pops out from nowhere…Overall, I highly recommend this urban tale to readers everywhere.

Review:

Get Rich or Die Trying by Brittany McBryde is truly an intriguing novel. There’s action, drama, sex, and danger on every page. There are two sisters each one is married to one of the two Martin brothers. Each guy cheats on his wife but when one man’s wife cheats on him…he feels broken. But so is she. The man she cheated with was angry at her for questioning why he told everyone including her husband about their baby they were going to have. This almost led to a shot out. From that day on Money’s wife was never the same. She goes to feeling emotional to ashamed to depressed. Rain’s life is on the line…and her sister Rome must help her..before she’s lost forever. Then there’s the drama and trouble of Rome’s theft heist that has her shaking with worry. Never has there ever been any issues until her latest heist. Rich told her not to do the dirty jobs anymore…but she wouldn’t…maybe she will learn her lesson…

Get Rich or Die Trying is exciting to read. A group who have worked together to steal money to get where they are now…are now dealing with family issues as well as threats. Infidelity issues and a job gone wrong, as well as the suspicion, of how they all came, into money, from nowhere, will leave this incredible set of characters fighting to get rich or die trying. The plot moves super fast and gives readers little time to figure it out before new trouble brews. Brittany McBryde’s novel is suspenseful and kept me turning the pages. I was blown away by the characters’ stories within the overall story. The emotions as well as the characters’ actions will captivate readers and keep them hooked. Overall, I highly recommend this novel to readers everywhere.

Toca Swanson has done it once again! Her second novel inside this crazy addictive series has it hit off of the charts so high. The drama is higher and better than ever. Ride It Til’ the Wheels Fall Off 2 is another fabulous hit by Toca Swanson. I was once more swept into the drama series. The story is told from each characters’ point of view. I loved reading the novel that angle. Each characters’ point of view only adds to the trouble brewing ahead as always. As the tale progressed…the tension was building up and not just from one character but from all of them. Each one has their own take on life and once they decide on what they want there is no stopping them.

Ride It Til’ the Wheels Fall Off 2 by Toca Swanson is like watching an Urban soap opera come to life. All the characters play a major role in adding to the masterpiece. Amber from book one is still going after Brad. Brad knows she’s a crazy chick and won’t stop unless he does something. Toca Swanson’s writing is brilliant. Her characters especially , Faith, have wrapped their way around my heart. I was compelled with the plot that builds up into one of the most suspenseful and intense stories I have read. The entire set of characters led readers with a whole set of possibilities of what might occur. As a reader…I wasn’t sure what to expect until something happened.. I love reading fiction that keeps readers like me on our toes constantly. The answers to all of my questions were answered and new questions were formed as the plot came to a close leaving me wondering what’s next. Ride It Til the Wheels Fall Off by Toca Swanson is indeed an Urban fiction novel that also brings up a lot of women’s issues. Here, I have met a variety of strong women dealing with similar issues as well as different issues as well. The drama, lies, and betrayal are thick in inside this incredible read. I tried not to hold my breath but it was hard…addictive, stunning, and well-written.

Ride It Til’ the Wheels Fall Off by Toca Swanson is definitely a must read for all. Readers like myself will have met the most compelling set of characters ever. The characters’ lives and troubles deeply swept over me. I felt everything like I was there experiencing it all instead of just reading it. That just shows how powerful Toca Swanson’s writing is. I easily got lost from my world and plunged deep into this novel. Here, I have met a woman who was the only single lady out of her friends. She met a man named Brad who is the last man a woman like herself would be with…but until another woman stirs up the nests that Brad has kept to secretly…Faith and all the others wouldn’t know what’s about to hit them all. The emotional journey from this steamy hot read packed with tons of action…is superb. It was like riding a roller coaster… and absolutely one thrilling ride I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.
